Here I stand, leaning against my bathroom door frame openly gawking at the Scottish version of Prince Charming, sprawled out in my bed. He slept in his boxer briefs which, let’s be honest, is a gift that will keep on giving, especially after I did a personal photo shoot while he sleeps.

I jump when my phone buzzes, scurrying from the room so not to rouse Lennox. I hit answer as I step into the extra bedroom.

“Hey,” I whisper.

“Hello? Are you alright?” Millie laughs.

“Lennox is here”—I giggle—“in my bed looking like the freakin’ Outlander dude.”

“What the hell?”

I cringe, knowing what’s coming. “I had a cyst rupture, and I didn’t have a ride home.”

“Why am I just hearing about this? More importantly, you called Lennox, and he came?”

I sigh. “He even washed my clothes, Mills.”

“Damn, this boy is good.” She swoons.

I nod as if she can see me. “He told the hospital staff we were engaged. I’m a little worried I may have ruined his car seat, but he said he didn’t care.” Tears sting my eyes. “He even cooked for us.” My heart races. “Oh god, Millie, I can’t control this anymore.”

“Don’t try. Let it go, and see where it takes you.”

“Mills, he said if we couldn’t have kids, he’d buy them if we had to.” I’m full on sobbing now.

She gasps. “Oh, I love that dang movie. I want to marry him, if you don’t. I’m so changing up and batting for the other side.”

“You can’t because if I try this time and it doesn’t work, I’m going to need for you to be my husband.”

“That does make sense. You’re more girly and have boobs; I could rock a set of nuts.” She doesn’t even skip a beat.

“Millie!” I snap my fingers. “Focus!”

“Ughh, we’re talking about Lennox’s balls, not my imaginary ones. Got it! Let’s go.” I cover my face; she’s lost it.

“What am I going to do?”

She whistles. “I just thought of something.”

“Oh, what?”

“He spent the night knowing he wasn’t getting laid.” She giggles.

“He didn’t even bat an eye at all of it, just went with it.” I cover my face, hating to admit it. “I’m falling so fast it’s a little disturbing.”

She snorts. “Girl, he owned your ass in Vegas, what’cha talking about; you’ve been gone for him.”

“What am I going to do?” I bite my thumbnail.

She takes a deep breath. “Are you sitting down?”

“Yeah.” I swallow hard, ready for her inspiration.

“Stand up.” I do as she says, as if she’s here. “Now, this is the hard part but, Lo, I believe you can do it.”

“Oh, gracious, what is it?” I lay my hand on my head, trying not to panic.

“Walk straight back in there, fix your hair, brush your teeth and crawl back into bed with that damn, fucking hot man!”
