Lennox and I spend two weeks with his parents. We’re going back for our honeymoon, and our meadow will be greatly used. He holds my hand as the plane lands. He hasn’t been far from me since I showed up. Lachlan and Maisyn are waiting on us when we arrive. He drags Lennox into a bear hug, and then does me the same way.

“We’re happy to have you back.” Lachlan kisses my forehead.

Maisyn dances. “YES! I’m so happy for you both. I can’t wait to plan this thing.”

“Well, there’s goes your money.” Lachlan rolls his eyes.

Lennox grins. “Can you loan me some money?”

“Ha! No.” Lachlan punches him in the arm. “Would you two happen to be hungry?”

“You know I’m hungry.” Maisyn giggles.

He throws his arm around her shoulder. “I know, you two are always hungry.”

“I think I’m okay.” I look at Lennox, who agrees with me.

“Yeah, we’re good.”

Lachlan’s smile falls. “Well, you’re eating with us.”

“Let’s get the girls, and we’ll stop for something fast.” Maisyn pats my hand.

Lennox stares at me as I shrug. “Okay.”

We sit in the back, snuggled close as Lachlan drives. He pulls into their house, and I gape.

“See, you thought I was ridiculous.” Lennox snickers in my ear.

Maisyn glances back at us. “Does anyone need to use the bathroom or anything?” Lennox and I both shake our heads as Lachlan and Maisyn grumble.

Lachlan gets out, glaring at us. “Get out and walk in, please.”

Lennox cuts his eyes at me. “Okay, I guess we should step in for a minute.”

“Sounds good, let’s.” Lennox takes my hand, helping me out.

We walk with our hands clasped, laughing at their odd behavior. They even shut the door in front of us. We’re snickering as the door opens and we’re given the shock of our lives.

“Surprise!” The room is filled with every person we know. I blush as Lennox draws me in and bends me back, kissing me until my toes curl.

We’re passed around and given many, kisses, hugs, and congratulations. By the time we reach the end of the line, my parents and brother stand ready to hug us.

“Congratulations, Lolita.” Mom kisses me and turns to Lennox to do the same.

“Dad.” My father hugs me, tears in his eyes.

He points at Lennox, taking his hand. “This man, he’s a good man, Lolita. He called, apologized for it not being in person, and asked me for your hand. That’s the right way, you know. He said you would want for nothing. I told him I don’t care about his money, nor does our Lolita; all she needs is your love and respect. He said you already have that, and I said okay!”

I tug Lennox over to me. “Did you really call him?”

“I did, in the five seconds I had.” He chuckles. “One thing’s for sure, I have to work fast to keep anything from you.”

“Sister”—my brother wraps his arms around me—“I’m happy for you.”

“Felipe? What are you doing here?” He shakes Lennox’s hand.

He winks. “Break, I’m glad to be here.”
