"More orgasms for me," I said softly as he licked me, then sucked my clit into his mouth. I bowed off the bed.
He pressed his arm against my pelvis, anchoring me in place. Then he redoubled his efforts to make me come. I was barreling quickly toward release, but I wanted him inside me.
"I want to ride you."
He moved before I even finished my sentence. "You don't have to ask twice."
I straddled his hips, lifting myself up and then lowering myself inch by glorious inch. His gaze was fixated on the spot where we were joined.
"You're gorgeous."
He thought I was beautiful in lacy lingerie and in nothing at all. I'd never felt more wanted. It was addicting. Maybe our feelings were heightened because this was only supposed to last while I was in town. We had an end date.
He gripped my hips, guiding me up and down. Each pass brought me closer to that inevitable edge. The one that would send me over.
His hands moved up to my breasts, cupping them and rubbing my nipples. I bit my lip.
"Let go." His voice was rough, and when he squeezed one nipple, I cried out his name. He flipped me so that I was on my back, and he was inside me, moving. I was still riding the orgasm, and it sent off more ripples of pleasure.
He thrust one last time and groaned.
He rolled to the side, took care of the condom, and pulled me into his side. I couldn't help but think that this started out as something physical but felt much bigger the more we got to know each other. Each encounter felt more intimate.
I was afraid of what I was starting to feel for him. I couldn't allow myself to fall for him though. He was technically my client, and he might not be happy with my final decision on the design for the inn. Then there was the fact that I lived across the country.
Would I move for someone like him? It was too soon to tell. But he certainly hadn't said anything about wanting more with me. He'd said he wanted to settle down but hadn't said with me. Maybe our relationship pushed him to make that decision. But if he wanted me, wouldn't he admit that? Why would he hide?
I had to go with the facts. We had explosive chemistry, but we didn't work on any other level.
His breathing was slow and even, but I couldn't seem to quiet my mind. I had to be careful going forward. I was going into this with my eyes wide open. I knew the ramifications of getting involved with someone I couldn't have or who might not want me.
I'd suffered the consequences before, and I didn't want my reputation to be tarnished again. I'd gone out on my own so I could control as much as I could. But I couldn't alter people's opinions. If the rumor got around that I slept with clients, I would look unprofessional, and referrals would dry up.
No one would take me seriously or trust my opinion. I needed to be careful with my heart and my business. At the end of the day, I had to protect myself.

BOONE
When I woke up, Kennedy was still sleeping. I moved carefully off the bed, needing to go to the bathroom. I washed up and pulled on a pair of sweats. Then I went to the kitchen to start coffee and breakfast.
I loved having her in my space. Usually I preferred to be alone so nothing could distract me from work. But since I'd started sleeping with Kennedy, I'd been able to hyperfocus when I was in the shop and get more done than usual.
I had plans to see if anyone could help me design a website that was simple and easy to update. I needed to start marketing and hire someone to handle the public-facing side of my business.
Clara had gotten help with her online store from Beck's sister. I wondered if she'd be willing to help me. She was a college student, so she might not charge as much as a professional.
I was cooking the eggs when I heard Kennedy moving around. She got out of bed and pulled my shirt over her head.
"Hey, you," I said as she moved toward me. Her hair was mussed, and her eyes were puffy. "Are you tired?"
"I had trouble falling asleep last night."
I smiled. "I'll have to wear you out more tonight."
She smiled in return, but something was off. "You cooked?"
"Eggs. Nothing fancy. But I can make something else if you'd prefer."
