I'd have to install a hot tub in my new house. I felt a pang of disappointment at the thought she wouldn't be there with me when it was built. I was building a house for me to live in alone.
I had a feeling that what I felt for Kennedy wasn't something that happened with just anyone. She was special, but it was never going to work out. Not with her living in Florida and me residing in Colorado.
Kennedy smiled when she saw me but kept her distance. We walked side by side toward the brew baths. "This is getting harder."
I cleared my throat. "It is."
The largest brew bath area was reserved for my family, so we stepped inside the space.
"Kennedy, I'm so glad you could make it," Clara said with a hug.
"Me too," Kennedy agreed.
I liked that she got along with my sister. "I thought it would be fun if we could all hang out, and she could get to know everyone."
"Good thinking," Clara said with a smile. Then she turned to Kennedy. "Let's get in."
There were already drinks and snacks on a long table by the wall. Guests could snack and drink while they socialized.
I had to admit that it was a nice way to get together with friends and family. A smaller bath would be good for a couple. But tonight was about Kennedy getting to know my family better.
Once we were all settled in the tub with drinks, Clara asked Kennedy, "Do you have any suggestions for us yet?"
"I do, actually. I already spoke with your mother about this one, so I don't feel bad sharing it. I'd like to put a snow room in that empty storage room in the inn."
Clara tipped her head to the side. "What's a snow room?"
"A room with all windows with snow falling inside. Here, let me show you a picture." She grabbed her phone and scrolled through a few pictures.
Beck and Rowan were the only two who weren't with us tonight because they were working. The brewery was still new and was attracting a large clientele most nights.
Clara looked over her shoulder. "Wow. That looks amazing. You guys have to see this."
Callum reached for the phone. His brow furrowed and then smoothed out. "That's cool."
He passed it on to Hunter. "I don't know why you'd want to hang out in a snow room when you have this." He gestured outdoors where there was snow falling tonight.
I tipped my glass to my lips. "That's what I said."
"But it would be neat in the summer. We're bringing the snow to them," Hunter said as he passed the phone to Malcolm, who was here tonight with McCoy, his son.
"Are we getting a snow room? Can we build one in our house?" McCoy asked, his eyes wide as he looked from the screen to his father.
"It's just for the inn," Malcolm said.
Kennedy laughed. "It's for that empty room that you've been using for storage."
"That room does have those wonderful windows, and we've never been able to come up with a use for it," Clara said thoughtfully.
I rolled my eyes. "It's Colorado. We already have snow."
"It's trendy. But isn't that what the brewery and brew bath are?" Callum asked.
"I don't know about that," I said, refusing to give in on this topic. I'd hoped my siblings would think it was crazy, but it was the opposite. They seemed to be entertaining the idea.
"I think it could be so romantic. Look at the log benches and the trees in the room. I could cuddle up with Beck and a hot chocolate," Clara said with a smile.
"I vote for drinking hot cocoa while you're enjoying the room," Hattie agreed.
