She laughed. “Remember that next time we have an erg session.”

He’d remember this night forever. No doubt about it.

TEAGAN

Teagan had seen Perry in a fit of pique before, but the way he was storming toward her now was next-level rage. And she was pretty sure she knew why. This had to be about Juliet. Or, more to the point, what she was wearing.

He gave an indignant shake of his head, stomping his foot like a high-strung racehorse. “Tell her to change. Now.”

“Who?” Playing dumb was the only way she’d survive his wrath. She and Cam. They could’ve warned Perry.

“Juliet!” Perry seethed. “She’s wearing my look!”

“You’re both making it work,” she said.

“I’m making it work better!”

“You know…” Teagan had to proceed with caution here, but felt Perry needed to hear this. “Juliet and I spend a fair amount of time together… and I’ve been watching her all night…”

“Which means you have had ample time to bring a pair of pinking shears to her ensemble.”

She cut to the chase. This was not the time for nuance. “Perry, has it ever occurred to you that maybe you have a thing for her?”

He bristled. “Impossible. We fight all the time. She is the Christian Dior to my Coco Chanel.”

Ha! She’d nailed that one (almost). But this wasn’t the time for self-congratulation. “In that case, maybe it means you’ve finally met your match?”

“What? No!” He threw a glance over to the punch bowl where Juliet was filling her glass, then whipped back to face Teagan. “Say more.”

“She likes the same things you do—” Teagan put up her hand so he would hear her out. This was big-picture advice, not dwelling on the detail. “She likes them in a different way. Which is a good thing. If you two took the time to get to know each other, I’m pretty sure you’d find out you got each other in a way no one else does.”

Perry’s nostrils flared, as if breathing in this entirely new way of looking at Juliet needed more oxygen. “That is,” he began imperiously, “pretty sus.”

Teagan beamed. The more she thought about Perry and Juliet as a couple, the more she thought it was a great idea.

“Go ask her to dance. You know you want to.”

“Hey, guys?” Amber approached them, holding up a book of tickets. “Last chance to get tickets for the after-party.”

“After-party?” This was the first Teagan had heard of it.

“It’s a charity cruise for the EPFA.” She fanned out the tickets so the rest of the crew who had returned to their table could see. “Who’s up for a romantic moonlit trip through the Harbor Islands?”

Everyone from the sound of it.

“Tickets are two hundred and fifty each,” Amber said as if they were a bargain. “Who’s in?”

Ryder pulled out his wallet and handed her a card. “I’ll take two.” He winked at her. “I’ve got a hot date.”

“Anyone else?” Amber asked. “Noah? Cam?”

Noah held up his phone so he could tap it to Amber’s portable banking device. “I’ll get one.”

Oh, this was bad. She needed to figure out a way to save Cam from being put in a deeply awkward position.

His cheeks were already flushed when she turned to him. She knew it wasn’t because of the dancing. “I don’t really want to go. We’re having a good time here. It’s going to be freezing out there. I didn’t bring anything warm.”

Perry cut in, not even trying to disguise the fact he’d been listening to them. “You guys should come.” He held out his card to Amber. “I’ll take three.”
