She could probably learn a thing or two from Mitch. He was thriving in the competitive real estate industry, so his methods must be working. And if Emma didn’t step up her marketing and fill her client roster, she was going to have to go back to college.

“Let me give you a few of my cards.” Mitch scattered a dozen on the coffee table. “Don’t people declutter before they move out?”

“Not always. They—”

“Because I was thinking, an organizer and a realtor could help each other. You send prospects my way, I send them your way. A symbiotic relationship, you know?”

“If any of my clients are looking for a—”

“Great. Great.” Mitch held out his palm. “Your cards?”

“I don’t have any.” Her clients knew where to find her. Why add to their clutter with yet another business card?

“Okay, keep mine anyway. I have to go. I’ve got an offer on deck and I need to go write it up. Paperwork, it never ends, am I right?” This time, Mitch sandwiched her hand between both of his in a double handshake. “Emma, it was lovely to meet you. I hope to see you again soon. Probably at the estate sale?”

“Yes, but you don’t have to—”

“Of course I do.” Mitch’s eyes and mouth turned down at the corners. “Kendrick needs my support. I’ll see you then.”

He let himself out, and as he drove away, his windows were still wide open, the radio still on full blast. This time, it was playing a commercial for gutter cleaners. Mitch didn’t bother to turn it down as he drove away.
