“Will do, baby.” I kiss her knuckles. “Now, let’s eat.”

“This conversation isn’t over.”

“It is, but I’ll humor you as often as you need me to, Blair.”

She shoves at my bicep. “You can’t humor me. I hate that idea.”

I kiss her knuckles again and wink at her. “Only when you argue with me irrationally about who has a bigger bank account because I don’t give a fuck about money, and I know you don’t, either. So, let’s drop it.”

She looks away for a few seconds and then sighs. “To be honest, my parents will probably cut me out of their will, so maybe you’re right. They can’t have my trust fund from my grandparents, but I bet my net worth just decreased significantly.”

“See? Problem solved.” I kiss her temple this time and pick up a plate. “Shall I fill your plate?”

Adrian has been kissing me from the moment we walked into his cabin. He kicked the door shut, pressed me against it, cupped my face, and plastered his lips to mine.

It’s like we’re two randy teenagers, making out as fast as we can before our parents get home in ten minutes. Except I think it’s been much longer than ten minutes, and I’m so hot and bothered that I don’t even care if my parents catch us half-naked.

I’m vaguely aware that the room is dimly lit with fake candles and roses. Adrian thought of everything, and it doesn’t surprise me that he’s not a fan of fire, considering his parents were killed in one. These brothers have every fire precaution known to man.

I’m panting as he nibbles a path to my ear. “I have champagne…” he murmurs.

I reach under his tux jacket and run my hands up and down his back over his dress shirt. “At this point, the only way I want to drink champagne is if we consume it as body shots or drink it as a sex chaser.”

He chuckles in my ear. “I like the way you think, Mrs. Gallant.”

The night is young, and I’m very happy with that because I really want to get naked with my husband. Champagne is not on my radar.

I’m glad the blinds are all closed, because Adrian spins me around and lowers the zipper down my back. A second later, my dress falls to the floor, and he lets out a low whistle. “My naughty wife was holding out on me in the intimate apparel department.”

I turn in his arms and smile. “Thanks to your brothers for rescuing my SUV from that tree and driving it here this morning. I didn’t have them drag everything into your house, but I did find the box labeled ‘sexy lingerie.’”

He laughs. “You had a box labeled ‘sexy lingerie’?”

I shake my head. “No. I was kidding. I only happen to own sexy bras and panties.”

He growls. “I don’t like the idea of anyone else having ever seen you in this set.” His finger comes between my breasts and strokes along the edge of delicate white lace.

The only things I’m wearing are the matching bra-and-thong set and my white heels. I don’t even know why I brought these useless white heels to the mountains. What the hell was I going to need them for?

But I’m glad they managed to make the cut, because they came in clutch today. I flatten my palms on Adrian’s chest and pat him. “No need to get possessive, Mr. Fancy Jeans. It’s been a long time since anyone saw me naked or in my bra and panties. I’m certain there’s nothing in my current wardrobe that existed the last time I let a boyfriend in my pants. Besides, you’re the only man who will see me dressed like this from now on, so put the fangs away.”

He smirks before letting out a fake growl that’s louder than the first. “Mine,” he barks as if he’s moved from mountain man to caveman.

“You’re overdressed, big guy. How about you remove this tux and show me what’s mine.” I love our silly banter. It’s refreshing and helps keep me from succumbing to my nerves, because there’s no way for me not to be nervous about having sex with a man I’ve known for one day and married.

Yes, he showed me last night how good it will be between us, and I really appreciated the demo. It has cut my jitters by half, but I’m still about to have sex with this man for the first time, and we’re married.

We’re married.

I married a man I just met.

I start giggling.
