Summer dodged under his reaching arm and moved quickly to the other side of the bed.
“Troy, I think you’re being compelled by something to act this way. You love Michael as much as I do. We’re a triad. Three made one.”
He tilted his head. “You think I love that uptight sonofabitch? Spare me. The guy is like a reject from a bad fantasy flick. We don’t need him to have fun.”
“You did last night,” Michael said as he stepped inside. “Summer, come to me.”
She hurried over to him. “There’s something wrong,” she said. “He’s acting as if the sex magic is still swaying him, but his eyes––they’re like the water that led us into that trap.”
“The water,” Troy snickered. “You really don’t get it. I am water, you silly bitch. Now come over here and I’ll give you a nice drink.”
“The sea water,” Michael murmured to her. “RainLance holds power over all water. It has taken control of him.”
“We have to get the water out of him,” she said, pulling off her gown, “and that means invoking our bond.” She looked at Michael. “This isn’t going to be fun.”
Michael nodded, and stripped along with her. Once they were naked they walked to Troy, who scowled at his sentinel brother before he leered at Summer.
“Now that’s more like it. Why don’t you go fetch some wine, Templar? I’ll keep our little woman occupied while you do.” Troy grabbed Summer and dragged her down onto the bed of blankets, where he pinned her under his body. “Spread your legs.”
She linked her hands around his neck. “Kiss me first.” When he ducked his head to her breasts she looked past him at Michael. “On the mouth, please.”
Troy muttered something against her nipple, and then stiffened as he felt Michael crouching over him.
“Gods, can’t you take a hint? You’re not wanted here, Templar.”
The ringing resonance of Troy’s voice frightened Summer. It echoed the voice that had spoken in her mind at Neptune’s temple.
“RainLance,” she said, and smiled grimly as Troy drew back and stared at her. “This man is mine. You can’t have him.”
Michael yanked him off her and pinned him on his back. “Fight it, Pagan. Purge it.”
The dark warlock gave him an evil grin. “Why don’t you suck my rod, you pansy? You are supposed to be my mate like her, right? She can show you how I like it done.”
“If it comes to that to save you, I will,” Michael said, and glanced at Summer. “How can we reach him?”
“With love,” she said.
As Michael held him down, Summer leaned over him, her mouth hovering just above Troy’s.
“I love you, my dark magician,” she whispered against his lips. “Come back to me.”
As her lips met his, she was shocked at how cold they were. But slowly she pressed her mouth to his, willing him to feel her. At first his response was slow, as if he didn’t know what to do. But when she opened her mouth to him, he did the same—and gasped.
“Oh, Gods,” he said in a thready voice. “I’m here, love.”
“I knew you were,” she murmured against his cheek. “Feel our bond now. Let it bring you back to us.”
Michael loosened his grip on Troy, but kept one hand in contact. The other he gently laid on Summer’s back, forming their triad.
“We love you, Troy Atwater,” the big man said.
Shimmering sweat popped out on Troy’s brow and upper lip, each bead growing fatter before it rolled off his flesh.
“No,” the colder, harder voice said through Troy’s mouth. “Use her with me. Make her moan for us.”
But Summer felt a new surge of hope. The voice didn’t sound nearly as strong as it had before, which had to mean it was losing its grip on her lover.
“She is not yours, and neither am I,” Michael told him. “We belong to Troy, and he to us.”
