We stepped out of the tent, and I immediately looked around, searching the bustling campground for Kyle.

It only took me a second to find him, sitting on the back of a truck, talking to Chirp and Herb. His conversation died mid-sentence when he saw me, and a hot flush of attraction rushed through my blood.

He was so damn cute, all young and floppy brown hair in his eyes, so eager to learn and to please me. He’d been a virgin when I’d met him, a man in age but so inexperienced.

The man he was now was light-years away from who he’d been when he’d first walked into the Slayers’ compound.

And it was written all over his face, right there in the way his eyes devoured me, lingering on my tits and pussy, like all he could think about was dragging me back inside that tent and uncovering them.

I did a little spin, just to torture him because he’d always been an ass-man.

He groaned, and pushed himself off the back of the truck, stalking over to tower over me. “What the hell are you wearing?” he asked with so much gruff in his voice it sent tingles straight between my legs.

“You like it?” I asked a little breathlessly. I couldn’t even remember how long it had been since he’d first come into my life. But it was definitely long enough that I should have lost interest by now.

And yet, I hadn’t. And somehow, miraculously, Kyle hadn’t seemed to lose interest in me either, the way all the other men at the club had. It was no secret I’d warmed the beds of most of them, at least a time or two. That was my role as a club girl, and it was one I had never felt shame in holding. Sex hadn’t meant anything. It was just a way of getting off, of meeting my more important needs, like having a roof over my head and food to eat.

And then Kyle had come along and suddenly, sex had meant something. And so I’d kept going back, waiting for him to reject me, for him to say it was over and he’d found his real partner, the way Hawk and Fang and War all had. They’d all been with club women, until they’d found a woman to love and then they’d settled down to start families. Leaving me and Amber to move to another member’s bed.

But Kyle hadn’t moved on yet.

He just kept saying he loved me, and I kept pretending not to hear it because it felt too good to be true. He was too green to know how these things worked. Right now, he was all over me because I’d taken his virginity. But pretty soon, he’d realize that there were plenty of other women who would happily give him all the experience he wanted.

He was too sweet to do it on purpose, but if I listened to his I love yous, he was going to break my heart.

“You can’t wear that,” Kyle finally managed to choke out.

Amber’s gaze narrowed at him, her bad mood back again. “I know I didn’t just hear you tell a woman what she can and can’t wear. That cult, God-loving, modesty bullshit they spouted at Ethereal Eden doesn’t fly in the real world.”

He ignored her, lowering his face to kiss my shoulder and inhale the scent of my hair. “You can wear whatever the fuck you want, but if it’s that, Keeks? I’m going to have a real hard time not taking it off you.”

Amber, seemingly satisfied, or maybe grossed out, by that answer, rolled her eyes and walked over to Chirp and Herb.

I laughed, the stubble on Kyle’s jaw and cheeks tickling my neck. “I think you can control yourself until after the music.”

He kissed the soft skin beneath my ear and shook his head. “You haven’t seen how good you look.” He pulled back, picking up my hand and spinning me beneath his arm in a slow circle so he could look at me from every angle.

A hot heat that was only partly the unrelenting wind kissed my body. For a second, I thought about staying right here in this tent and letting him take the outfit off me.

Because when he looked at me like that, it was really hard for me to imagine him moving on to someone else. That part of me, who had been rejected by every other biker I knew, demanded I hold on to him for as long as possible.

I was so stupid. Siren had warned me over and over when I first started going to the Slayers’ parties not to develop feelings. That we could try to get these men to settle down and turn us into old ladies. That it happened, but rarely, so to not get my hopes up. And one by one, each of the men who’d taken me to their beds had proved her right.

I was okay with that.

Until Kyle had come along.

How the hell was I going to watch this man find a woman to turn into his old lady? How was I going to watch him put her on the back of his bike and proudly parade her around the clubhouse, while I slunk back into the corners and waited for the next biker to need someone to sink his dick into?

Every time Kyle said I love you, that was where my brain went.

I pushed him away gently and smiled up at him. “We’re going to miss the opening acts.”

Kyle looked like the only opening he was interested in was the one between my legs, but I threaded my fingers through his, pasted on a bright smile, and turned to the others. “Let’s go.”

They all followed me, and I moved confidently through the crowd, knowing exactly where all the stages were set up and which ones I wanted to go to. The music grew louder as we got closer, and the hum of excitement in the crowd increased with the beat.

Amber tapped my arm. “I want to get a drink before we get too deep in.”
