Kiryan's gaze iced over. "This doesn't involve you."

"Her life involves me."

"Yeah?" Kiryan's mouth curled. "I haven't even settled my score with you. You took my wife, hid her in your place, and now you are trying to steal her out from under me."

"Ex-wife," I corrected.

His eyes snapped to my face like a nail. "I never signed."

I clenched the contract. "I did."

"I told you the agreement was forged. The recording was edited."

I forced myself to meet his stare. "And the days you spent with Isabella—those were forged too?"

A crack split his calm. Not guilt. Regret. And I'd paid too much for that look, too late.

"I'll explain everything to you," he said.

Yegor planted himself between us. "Where the hell were you earlier? When she was waiting, you were guarding Isabella. Now she is wrecked, and you suddenly want to explain. What good is that?"

Kiryan's shoulders dipped, just a fraction.

Danger.

"Move."

"No."

"Yegor." I reached for him.

Too late.

Kiryan grabbed his collar and slammed him into a pillar. A glass shattered—sharp as a gunshot. Yegor knocked a punch aside and cracked Kiryan across the cheekbone.

They went for each other, full-on.

Yegor was younger, faster. Kiryan moved like an animal that had made peace with pain—blocked an elbow, twisted an arm, drove a knee. Yegor grunted, then shoved him into the display table.

Security rushed in. Nobody dared to step close.

"Stop!"

Kiryan's fist caught Yegor's jaw. Yegor staggered, then lunged right back in.

My lungs felt like they were about to explode.

I shoved through the crowd and threw myself between them, palm hard to Kiryan's chest.

The muscle under my hand was rock. His heartbeat pounded heavy and fast. When he realized it was me, his face changed instantly.

"Back up," he said, gripping my shoulder like he meant to pull me behind him. "You'll get hurt."

"Then quit swinging."

His breathing stayed rough, gray eyes still lit with violence—then he actually stopped.

Yegor wiped blood off the corner of his mouth. "Elena. Come with me."
