But how could I not want to leave? I just watched a man die.

I need Ky.

Right before I get to the bathroom, I bump into a hard chest. The air leaves me in a whoosh, and I look up to see the dark, angry eyes of Wyatt.

“Sorry,” I mutter, trying to squeeze around him.

There’s a second where he doesn’t say anything, then I’m being shoved against the wall. I gasp, but his mouth lands on mine, and he’s kissing me. He’s kissing me so hard it’s like he’s sucking the air out of me.

“Did I ever tell you you’d look pretty with purple hair?”

“Ky,” I gasp, and he just leans into me, pinning me with his entire body. Suddenly, I remember how he did this the first time we met and how I fought him.

This time, I melt into him, letting all my muscles go loose, and it feels like coming home.

“Are you,” breath, “okay?” I ask around his kisses. I can feel his hard-on pressing into me.

“Now I am.”

“No.” I try to push back so I can look into his eyes. “Are you okay? They’re talking about leaving the island.” I can’t keep the panicked tone out of my voice.

Ky’s dark gaze meets mine, and there’s something equally as panicked in his. It softens as he watches me. Then, it hardens. “Leave?”

I nod, unable to look away from him. It’s like his calm lowers the heat of my fire, so it’s more manageable.

Ky purrs, “You can’t leave.”

Some part of my heart sings.

Ky’s hand goes around my throat, and he squeezes, his large hand dwarfing my neck. I arch my back as he takes the control away from me.

“If you think you can escape me,” his lips dip to my ear, “you’re horribly mistaken, Oakley Rebel King.”

The grip he has on my neck is making my head spin, but I don’t fight it. I close my eyes, pressing my pelvis into him.

“Neither you nor Holli is going anywhere. I want to keep you. You’re mine.” His voice is a growl in my ear. “I may be crazy, but I have a job to do. And that’s to protect…Wyatt and what he does here. You know too much.” His teeth graze against my ear. “So, where is the little therapist? What do you call her? Foxy?”

I struggle to keep clear thoughts when I can picture just what it would look like to drop to my knees and have him shove his dick down my throat.

“Is she running from me, too?”

I can’t speak, just grunt out a response.

“Good. The cat has the mouse. Now I’m gonna get the fox too.”

CHAPTER SEVENTY-TWO

“Piano Fingers found himself in a bit of a predicament.”

I glance up to see that Riley has grabbed a water bottle, and she downs the entire thing in one go. She has dirt and blood streaked across her forehead.

She sees me looking at it. “That’s kill what, seven? Hard to keep track when they’re coming at you like lemmings.”

I shake my head, turning to look at the counter. Riley is an interesting person. And by interesting, I mean, there’s a blank look in her eyes, and I’m curious from a professional standpoint what it came from. But I stop myself. I’m done diagnosing people who aren’t my clients.

“What, did Chair Girl lose her fire?”

Riley’s tone is condescending. She’s definitely trying to get a rise out of me, so I ignore her. I saw Oakley and Wyatt disappear down the hall earlier, so I can picture what they’re up to. The thought makes heat tingle through me. I suspect Riley feels very little, and stirring up shit is one of the few ways she feels alive.
