His eyes widen, fear, realization, regret crashing together in a single, ugly moment. I straighten, rolling my shoulders back. My voice is calm when it comes.

“The Serpent Vows mean something to us. Loyalty. Truth. Blood.” I pause. “Vows you broke the second you opened your mouth to Sebastian.”

Noah shakes his head, barely. “Reaper—”

“No,” I cut him off. “You chose your path.”

I step back, giving him space he doesn’t deserve. “Now,” I say quietly. “You reap what you sow.”

The war room door opens again. Footsteps echo across the threshold, Margot first, then Riot, Torque, Elias, Max… and Wrenley.

She walks with purpose. Not anger. Not fear. Purpose. Noah stiffens in his chair, eyes darting between all of them, but it’s her he watches. Only her.

She stops in front of me and looks up, that fierce little chin lifting. There’s something in her eyes that’s dark, certain and unshakeable. I lean down. Close enough that only I can hear her. Her breath touches my cheek right as she whispers:

“Margot was worried about what killing him would do to me.” A beat. Then, softer, darker. “But I know exactly what it will do. Nothing. He broke sacred vows. He went against his ink. He betrayed us all.”

The words hit like thunder in my chest. My hands find her waist, slow and reverent, fingers curling into the fabric of her shirt.

I whisper back. “Whatever you want, little warrior.”

I kiss her cheek soft, grounding and straighten to my full height in front of her, turning my attention to Noah. Then I say, clearly enough for every Serpent in the room to hear: “You are our Queen.”

The room shifts. Torque nods first, slow and deliberate. Riot follows, arms crossed, eyes burning with agreement. Margot dips her chin. Elias squares his shoulders. Max steps to her other side, jaw set, gaze steady. One by one, they acknowledge her.

Noah’s breath stutters. He shakes his head, panic creeping in. “Wrenley… please.” He says voice cracking. “You don’t have to do this.”

She smiles. God help anyone who thinks they can stand against that smile. It’s soft, it’s cold. It’s final. “Oh, I know I don’t have to,” she says. Her voice is steady as stone. “But I’m going to. Because I want to.”

Noah flinches. She steps closer, her shadow falling over him. “And because clearly,” she continues, her smile widening just a fraction, “A message needs to be sent to anyone thinking about breaking their vows.”

The room holds its breath. My hand never leaves her waist. Max shifts closer at her other side. Noah finally realizes something. This isn’t vengeance. Not anymore. It’s judgment. His breathing turns ragged. He knows. We all do. Wrenley steps forward, slow and certain, her shadow falling over him like a crown of night.

Max and I move with her, one step behind, one heartbeat synced to hers, one vow deeper now than any ink. She doesn’t rush. She doesn’t tremble. She reaches down and pulls her dragger free from her thigh. The sound of steel against leather snaps through the room, clean, precise, final.

Noah whispers something, a plea, a curse, maybe her name, but she doesn’t acknowledge it. Her other hand sinks into his hair, gripping at the roots, forcing his head up until he’s staring at her. At the woman he wronged, the woman he underestimated. The woman he helped hunt.

His eyes are wide. Desperate. Already understanding there is no mercy here. Wrenley leans in, her mouth close to his ear, her voice a soft, lethal whisper only he can hear. Max and I step closer, flanking her, sealing the circle around her. We don’t touch her. We don’t guide her. We don’t stop her. We stand with her. Because she isn’t doing this alone. She isn’t doing this out of rage. She’s doing this because she is our Queen, and this is justice. Her grip tightens. The room goes silent. Even the air holds still.

Wrenley acts with the same grace, certainty, and precision she shows in every fight, every hunt, every battle she’s survived. The dagger lifts. She sets the point beneath Noah’s chin. I see the frantic rabbit-kick of his pulse against the steel.

Then she drives upward in one exquisite, unhurried thrust. The blade punches through the soft floor of his mouth with a muffled crunch of bone and gristle; hot blood jets against her knuckles, slick and immediate. She twists once, precise, almost gentle, and the steel finds brain. A full-body spasm rips through him; his heels drum the floor, his bladder lets go in a dark flood that spreads beneath the chair.

When she withdraws the dagger, it comes free with a wet, sucking kiss. A final burst of arterial blood fountains high, painting her in a brilliant arc, before it weakens to a sluggish trickle down his chest. Warm blood speckles her wrist, her forearm, a few droplets clinging to her eyelashes like tiny rubies. She blinks once, slow, deliberate, and a single crimson bead slides down her cheek like a tear she refuses to shed.

His eyes roll white, tongue protruding thick and purple between teeth that no longer close. Wrenley steps back, blade dripping, breathing slow and even, the front of her shirt now clinging wet and scarlet to her skin.

There was no hesitation. No cruelty. No second-guessing. Just the clean, decisive end of a man who broke sacred vows. Torque bows his head, not in grief, in admiration of her. Riot exhales. Margot closes her eyes. Elias stands straighter. Max and I remain, one heartbeat behind her, steady and unmoving as stone. When it’s done, Wrenley steps back, blade in hand, breathing slow and controlled. No one speaks.

She stands there, eyes dark, chin lifted, every inch the ruler she’s become, and I feel it hit me all over again. She didn’t break. She chose. We will follow her anywhere.

Wrenley turns toward us slowly, wiping the blade clean with a calmness that shouldn’t be beautiful, but is. Her eyes lift to mine first, then to Max. And then that smile curves across her mouth, soft, satisfied, sinful. “Well,” she says lightly. “I think we should get cleaned up.”

She might as well have said I want you both, right here on the war room table. Max’s gaze flicks to mine, and I can tell we’re thinking the same thing. This side of her, this ruthless, unshakable, hot-blooded confidence, she doesn’t hide it from us. She lets us see it. We don’t fear it. We crave it.

Max’s mouth lifts at one corner. I feel my own answering smile pull at the edge of my lips. Because we know her better than anyone. We know exactly what this darkness does to her. What it awakens. What it promises.

Torque clears his throat loudly, dragging the room back into focus. “I’ll find Wrecker,” he says. “We’ll… handle things.” He nods toward what’s left behind us.
