Chapter 14

Welton drew in a deep breath and rolled over in bed. When he bumped into someone beside him, he let out a quiet gasp and quickly retreated. Memory of the night before returned, and he gently bit his lip as he looked at Reece beside him. Lying on his side and facing him, Reece’s features were slightly out of focus without his glasses, but Welton could see how relaxed and handsome he looked as he slept.

Reece had spent the night with him. Not only that, but they’d made love, not just had sex, and then fallen asleep together. Welton was in way over his head now, and rather than stress about it like he normally would, he was forcing himself to relax and enjoy it.

A handsome, smart, and funny man found him attractive and wanted to know everything about him. That didn’t happen every day. Welton wasn’t going to let himself overthink any of it.

He scooted a little closer and squinted in order to see more clearly. The morning light made some of the whiskers in Reece’s trim beard appear dark red, and Welton picked out a couple that had turned white. He wished he could take a mental picture of this moment, of Reece’s face exactly as he was seeing it. No smart phone camera would do it justice. He would have to store this in his memory and enjoy it once he was back home.

Home without Reece.

No, it wouldn’t do for him to think about that. Live in the moment, that was what Dean told him last night. Let the future take care of itself.

Welton got out of bed and shivered as he put on his glasses then gathered the clothes he’d been wearing when Reece had arrived. Hurrying into the bathroom, he closed the door before switching on the heat lamp—what an amazing invention—and sitting on the toilet to pee because he was still too tired to stand and aim. After washing up and brushing his teeth, he got dressed and eased the door open. Reece sat up in bed, torso bare and the covers gathered at his waist. He was swiping at his phone and looked up when the door opened.

“Good morning,” Reece said.

Welton stepped into the room and waved, then laughed at himself. “Good morning.”

“I like the wave.”

“I thought you might, that’s why I did it.”

“Would it be all right if I used the bathroom?”

“Sure, of course.” Welton stepped out of the way and gestured for Reece to enter. “I’ll go make coffee.”

Before Welton could move, Reece was out of bed, naked and semi-hard, and had a big warm hand on the back of Welton’s neck. He smiled and leaned down to kiss him softly on the mouth.

“Now that’s a proper good morning,” Reece said after. “Sorry for the morning breath, but I couldn’t resist.”

“No, it wasn’t bad. Really. I… That was nice. Thank you.”

“I’ll be downstairs in a few minutes. Is it okay if I shower? I need to be at work in about forty-five minutes.”

“Please, go right ahead.”

“Care to join me?”

Welton hesitated, but Dean’s voice spoke up in the back of his mind: Do it!

“Yeah, I’d like that.”

Under the warm spray, Reece lathered them up, then used a big, soapy hand to take hold of both of them and stroke. Welton braced himself on Reece’s shoulder. The strength of Reece’s fingers around him and the press of a hard dick against his own quickly brought him to orgasm and it flooded over Reece’s hand. Continuing to hold them both tight, Reece’s strokes sped up even more until he came as well, thighs trembling as he gasped.

Reece smiled and kissed Welton, then lathered them up again to wash everything away. Welton stepped out of the walk-in shower first and wrapped himself in a heavy cotton robe. He left Reece to finish up and went downstairs to make coffee. The last drops were dripping into the pot when Reece came up behind him, fully dressed, and slid his arms around his waist. A kiss on the side of his neck made Welton giggle, and he turned within Reece’s embrace to put his arms around his neck.

“I’ll see you in a little while,” Welton said.

“I’ll count the minutes.” Reece kissed him again then headed for the door.

“You don’t want a coffee?”

“I’ll grab one in the lobby. But I’ll take one of these to go.” Reece came back into the kitchen and kissed him again, then hurried for the door. “I’ve got to get out of here or I’ll never leave.”

Welton laughed and when the door had shut behind Reece, he let out a sigh and sat in a chair at the small table with a cup of coffee. His phone buzzed from the living room, and Welton took his coffee with him as he went to check it.

It was a text from Reece, and Welton laughed, then frowned.
