Colton shrugged. “I’m just horny.”
“What’d you find for me?”
Colton held out some dark purple loafers.
“Nice.” I thanked him and took the shoes. “Ooh, soft. What is that?”
“Faux suede.”
“Didn’t have any cowboy boots?”
“Didn’t think you’d want those, stud. Have fun tonight. I’m gonna see what my family’s up to.”
I walked back into the bedroom.
Damn.
Luke was dressed, head to toe, in black. Black pants, black shirt, black jacket.
“You’re still naked?!” Luke said, glancing at his phone. “We have to leave in five minutes.”
“Well, thanks for the warning,” I said, jogging over to my pants. I hopped around, trying to pull them on as quickly as I could.
I buttoned up my shirt, as Luke said, “I hope it’s okay that we take the Tube. I figured it was since the doctor cleared you. You have a mask if you need one, right?”
“Yeah, that’s fine.” I looped my tie around my neck and managed a tight knot on the first try. “My mask’s on the dresser.” I slipped into Colton’s shoes. “I’m ready.”
“Yeah, you are. Damn it, Cam.” Luke stepped in front of me and caressed the side of my face before pulling me closer for a kiss.
I broke it off. “I thought we had to leave, like, now?”
“We have a minute.”
“No, no, no. I’m not running in these shoes. They look great, but I can already tell they’d slip off.”
“Don’t worry. They’re coming off at the end of the night, along with everything else.”
“Is that so?”
Luke nodded. “I’m a sure thing, tiger.”
“Embankment,” I said, saying the name of the Tube station out loud.
“He can read!”
“Shut up!” I said, shoving him as we left the train and headed for the escalator. “Where are we going?”
“The Embankment, duh.”
I gave him my best death glare.
“You’ll see soon enough.”
The city came into view as we emerged on the sidewalk. I couldn’t see any of the big landmarks, though there was an obelisk nearby with sphinxes around the base.
“Come on.” Luke grabbed my hand, and we waited for the signal before crossing the road. He pulled me off the other sidewalk and onto the pier, where a few others dressed equally fancy were waiting in line in front of a glass-walled boat. “Surprise!”
“I want to say ‘It’s a boat,’ but then you’d probably say ‘He has eyes,’ or something snarky.”
