“Fast,” Gareth said, rolling onto his back. “Seems to be your MO.” He smirked, and put his hands behind his head.

“Not my fault you’re so tight.”

“Try to keep your hands off me. I’m not sure it’s the right time to break the boss-employee rule.”

“So there are rules now?” I asked, dangerously close to dragging him into the bathroom so I could devour those lips again.

“Maybe,” he said, before turning away from me completely.

His shoulder blades were impressive. I wanted to tear my shirt off of him and trace them with my fingers. If Trey wasn’t here, I knew we would’ve fucked.

“Why are you in my bed again?” I asked.

“Do you have a problem with that?” Gareth said, still facing away.

I had a big problem. “No.”

“Trey insisted,” Gareth explained. “I wasn’t gonna pull the kid out of his sleeping bag, and while the carpet looks very plush, I can’t sleep on something that hard.”

I resisted the urge to make a joke about the word hard, and instead, wished him a good night. Reaching over to shut the light off, I tried to ignore the ache in my balls. I had wished for Gareth to be in my bed again, but I should’ve been more specific about the situation. I’m not sure having sex with my kid in the room would win me any father-of-the-year awards.

My morning started off with the smell of bacon and coffee.

I made my way into the kitchen to find Gareth - back in my shorts - standing at the stove. He had made a full breakfast before either me or Trey were up.

“You didn’t have to do this. After the night you had, you should be sleeping in.”

“I’m an early riser.” Gareth shrugged. “Plus, you were the one dealing with the plumber for hours. I got some sleep while you did that.”

“Well, I appreciate it.”

“Bacon!” Trey rushed into the kitchen, my oversized shirt practically trailing behind him. “Wow, Dad. He does cook.”

I swear my kid was waggling his damn eyebrows. I pointed, making him take a seat at one of the bar stools around the island. He needed to behave.

“Here we go.” Gareth turned, a full plate in each hand.

Scrambled eggs, bacon, toast, fresh fruit.

“Wow.”

“Smells good, huh, Dad?”

“I told you it wasn’t going to be junk food all the time with me.” Gareth had his own plate and joined us at the island. “I hadn’t imagined I’d be serving breakfast as the first meal.”

“Or that you’d be in my clothes?”

Why the fuck did I draw attention to that?

“At least they’re comfortable.”

I wanted to say he looked good in them, but I already felt so over the line with him. Having him around was going to be a test of my willpower.

“Has Jack called or texted? Is your power back?”

“You remembered his name?”
