“Morning, babe.”
“Mmm.” I yawned and stretched my arms above my head. “Morning.”
Declan took the opportunity to place his hand on my stomach and kiss my chest.
“I think the kids are up. I heard their thunder a little while ago. We better get moving.”
I knew he was right, but I wanted to stay in bed all day.
“By the way, I love you,” he said.
I smiled. “You couldn’t wait to say that today, could you?”
“Nope.”
“I love you too.”
“That’s the proper response, mister. Not, ‘You couldn’t wait to say that today, could you?’” he said, mockingly, raising his voice an octave. As if I sounded like that!
“Nice impression. Don’t quit your day job.”
And then I was subject to an unprovoked tickle attack that pushed me out of bed and onto the floor.
“Oh no, looks like we have to get up now,” Declan mocked my seated form, bare ass on the rug and everything.
“Do you want me to have my brothers prank you again?”
“So that was your idea? I knew it!” Declan threw back the covers, distracting me for a second.
“No, it wasn’t,” I admitted, regaining some composure. “But I learned from the best. As an only child, you have no idea what people with siblings are capable of.”
“Yeah, yeah. It’s Christmas. Hurry up and put some clothes on.”
“Speak for yourself. You’re naked too.”
Declan rolled his eyes, then bent over to rummage through his suitcase. “Everyone’s probably waiting and I don’t want Pierce to obsess about our sex life any more than he already is.”
That’s a fucking perfect ass.
“Ew, don’t talk about my brother like that,” I said, finding some briefs in my suitcase and pulling them on.
“What? It was your theory.”
“Don’t remind me. By the way, if you flaunt your butt like that in front of me, you’re gonna make me think you want to get topped again.”
“Jesus, don’t make me think about sex. We’re supposed to be leaving the bedroom.” Declan pulled on an olive thermal and his favorite pair of jeans and made for the door. “See you downstairs.” He left with a wink.
The kids had finished their whirlwind of unwrapping and were busy playing with their favorites, when I noticed Declan had snuck away. Before I could get off the couch to search for him, he was already back.
“Where’d you go?”
“Wow. Clingy much? What if I was just peeing?”
I leaned in to whisper, “Maybe I wanted to watch?”
He ignored me and held out a small box.
“We said no presents!”
