“I’m sorry?” Ma asked with her brows raised as she stepped toward us. I discreetly angled my body between the two, realizing that I was about to have to square up with my fuckin’ Mama over Peep’s ass.

“A call or text is fine. Just to make sure we’re not busy. Maybe next time we can even do dinner.” She shrugged. Another long moment of awkward silence went by.

“Noted… My apologies,” Ma said, grabbing her purse. “Well, I guess I’ll get out of your hair. You two enjoy the rest of your evening.”

I stood there with my mouth touching the floor as Destiny walked her to the door. The two of them were chattin’ it up about recipes like they were old homegirls. I heard the door close, then Destiny came bouncing back around the corner.

“Get back in the bed,” I muttered, eyes scanning over her from head to toe.

“Huh?” she asked with wide eyes, looking all innocent and shit like she didn’t know how hard she just made my dick.

“Take yo’ ass back to the bed, and be naked when I get there,” I ordered aggressively. She ran her tongue over her lips, then followed directions, pulling the shirt right over her head before she turned and walked back to our bedroom.

“And what did you do after that?” Pistol asked with widened eyes. I was telling them about Peep standing up to Ma and how she backed down. The fact that he was this animated said everything that needed to be said because we all knew the woman who birthed us was a fuckin’ psychopath.

“I ate her ass, nigga! That seemed like the only appropriate response.” I shrugged.

Kilo spit his drink all over the table in front of us and even Pistol's ass chuckled a lil’ bit.

“What?” I asked. They were laughing, but I was dead serious.

“Nigga, you over there eatin’ ass? Let me find out you in love and shit!” Pistol teased, half smile still plastered on his face.

“Man, gon’ head. Never that. I just like her, that’s it. She cool as fuck,” I argued, throwing my hands up. I couldn’t hide the smile as I remembered how she hollered out and the way her body shook from the shock of my tongue sliding into her asshole. She came so hard that she wouldn’t let me touch her again for the rest of the day.

“Man, look at this nigga, just over there smiling while he reminisce about putting his tongue in sis ass! The streets dun’ lost a real one,” Ki teased.

“Kilo, please shut the fuck up! Anyways, that ain’t even why I called y’all out here. I heard back from the P.I. about all this shit that’s been going on.”

“Okay… What he say?” They both leaned forward on their elbows to get into the serious part of the conversation.

“The niggas are professionals, likely from out of town, and that’s why we can’t seem to catch them. The nigga who slipped up wasn’t a part of their core squad, just an extra body to help out. When they found out that we were after him, they contracted Eden to get rid of him before he could give out any information.”

“So, he still don’t know who the niggas are?” Pistol asked. He was pissed. He hated running into a problem he couldn’t solve with his brain, fists, or a gun.

“Nah. We sent out surveillance and extra security to try to pinpoint who they would target next, but the niggas went dark. Completely pitch black. For now, we just gotta wait until they inevitably resurface.”

“What makes you so sure that they will?” Kilo questioned.

“You know niggas,” I said, covering my nose and mouth before letting out a sneeze. When I looked up, both of my brothers were looking at me like I’d just turned into a clown.

“What?” I asked.

“Are you… getting sick, nigga?” Kilo asked, sliding away from me like I had the plague.

“My nigga, I can get you some fresh ginger and elderberry if you need it,” P offered. This time both of us looked at him like he was the foreign entity.

“I’m good. Y’all know I don’t get sick.” They both glanced at each other, then back at me. “What? I don’t! I ain’t been sick since grade school. You know my immune system is built Ford tough!”

Three Days Later

“Are you gonna be okay if I go shopping and to lunch with Kat? Don't leave this bed, Brick.” I rolled my eyes at Des’ fussin’ ass. Truth be told, I was more annoyed at her trying to leave me than the lecture.

“Yeah, whatever,” I said, waving her off.
