Handing her my phone, I said, “Give me ya phone.”

Reluctantly, she placed it in my hand.

“51316,” I mumbled.

She put the code in my phone, and her eyes widened a bit when it flashed to my home screen. She glanced at me nervously, then back at the screen. While she meddled through my phone, I searched hers for what I was looking for. Pulling up her MyChart, I noted the date of her last test results, then scrolled through each one. Although she claimed to be a virgin, I wasn’t a dumb-ass nigga. Once I was done, I went to her call log, then scanned her contact list. Nothing jumped out at me, so I locked her screen and gave her the phone back.

“Found what you need?” I asked her.

She nodded and handed me my phone.

HEIR

“This way,” Kody called as I lagged behind him. His mansion was spectacular in every sense of the word. From the driveway to the foyer, my mouth was still trying to close itself. I wasn’t expecting anything less from Kody. It was still a nice surprise to see how lavish he lived.

Just off the grand entrance were a set of stairs leading to the second floor. He led me up there to a set of double doors that he opened to reveal a stunning bedroom. A large, raised, neatly-made platform bed was the focal point of the room, swiftly followed by a fireplace that was as tall as me. A window wall extended from one corner to another, overlooking Kody’s backyard. I could see the ocean from here.

I heard water running and turned my attention away from the wall window. A light was on inside the bathroom, so I went to see what Kody was up to. His bathroom was just as magnificent as the room, and it smelled good. While I stood by the door peering at every inch of the space, Kody placed a towel, loofah, wash cloth, soap and body moisturizers on a table that was positioned just outside the shower. Next, he walked through another door, then appeared with a white robe. He draped it across the chaise lounge positioned on the other side of the bathroom.

He walked my way, and for a minute, I held my breath. His smirk caused me to tighten up.

“I’ll leave you to it,” he said and walked right past me. He closed the door behind him, and that was when I took a deep breath.

Showered and moisturized a short while later, I stood in the mirror and grinned at myself as I donned the plush white robe Kody draped across the chaise for me. It was too big and it hung off my shoulders, but I made it work. His attentiveness was a nice surprise, so I wasn’t going to complain. This was more than I thought he would’ve cared to do.

For a split second, I thought about the woman who’d claimed him back at the club. Surely, she was somewhere crashing out because Kody wasn’t with her. I’d heard his phone ring once, and he’d answered it in front of me.

Maybe he has her blocked. Shrugging, I thought, it wasn’t my business. Kody practically screamed his singleness right in the woman’s face. Therefore, I wasn’t sneaking around behind a woman’s back and neither was Kody.

“Suddenly, you’ve developed morals?” I questioned myself under my breath. I was about to let Kody have his way with me, for one night, and I would forget as if he never existed. Morals were nowhere in that equation.

Squaring my shoulders, I padded out of the bathroom, flicking the light off as I did so. Inside Kody’s bedroom, I slowly walked from corner to corner, scanning anything that wasn’t hidden. His space was clean, clutter free, and well-lived in.

Taking it upon myself to set the mood, I found the remote for the lights and turned them low. The same remote operated the fireplace, so I turned it to a low setting. Next, I turned on something soft, sensual, and sexy to listen to. No words, though, just instruments. I wanted this to be everything I dreamed of.

A heavy whiff of weed alerted me to Kody’s presence. He sauntered into his room, wearing nothing but a towel around his waist, and carrying two thin silk scarves in his hand. His hair was unbound and hanging around his shoulders in thick, bundles of brown loose curls.

My eyes gaped at him. His hard, masterfully cut chest and abs were tinged with tattoos leading down beneath the towel. Beneath the towel…his print was unmistakable. Gulping, I snatched my eyes away from that part of him and marveled at the full sleeve tattoos that stretched across both his arms. Kody was undeniably the right one for this moment.

The plume of smoke he blew out was thick and strong. His eyes were low and keenly assessing the fascination written all over my face. He was a marvelous work of art, and I couldn’t hide that I thought so. When his eyes lowered to scan my robe-clad body, the heat from the fireplace wasn’t hotter than the way his eyes burned every inch of my exposed skin.

He walked up to me and plucked the remote out of my hand. He pressed a button, and with a soft whir, the ceiling opened. Watching the ceiling give way and reveal the star-studded black sky above us, my eyes widened. Thick glass separated the elements from the bedroom. Skylights weren’t anything new to me. However, I’d never seen anything like this before. As the ceiling continued to peel back, it revealed a steel beam that held two steel rods.

The rods lowered, and upon further inspection, I realized that they were fitted with loops for restraint. I almost gagged at seeing that shit. My imagination couldn’t conceive what the hell he did in this room with—

My thoughts cut short as Kody’s fingers glided softly over the flesh of my collarbone.

“You said that anything goes,” he mentioned.

“Yes, but I—”

“Nah… When you tell a man that anything goes, that means you give him a level of ya trust.” He blew out another plume of smoke and practically dared me to go against him. I saw it in his medicinally induced gaze.

Still, I wasn’t a coward. He didn’t instill that type of fear in me. “I couldn’t even trust the man who fathered me. What the hell makes you think I’d trust any nigga?”

For a second, he regarded me while puffing on his joint. Then, he smirked. “We agree on something. Now…get in bed…on your knees.”

Gulping, I climbed in his large bed and positioned myself on my knees beneath the poles.
