“On one condition,” I said, fighting the instinct to immediately comply.

“I’m listening.” He leaned back against the bed, his back supported by its thick poster.

“You have to watch, no touching.”

Intrigue flared in his eyes, but he considered for a moment before he nodded.

I hooked my fingers around my waistband, and he moved to help me.

“No!” I held a hand. “No touching. In fact, I want you to give me some space.”

“Kerrigan,” he said my name like a warning.

“That’s the deal. Otherwise, the door is that way.” I shrugged, hoping he wouldn’t call my bluff.

Spencer stalked to the armchair in the corner of the room and lowered himself into it.

I gulped back the apprehension I felt and finished taking off my yoga pants and knickers. But as I reached between my legs, Spencer coughed.

“Yes?” I bit out.

“I can’t see,” he said simply.

I restrained myself from snapping back at him. He was the one who had walked in on me. His interruption had left me dangling one foot over the edge of a cliff. But despite my annoyance, I wiggled around, scooting my ass to the foot of the bed. I wanted him to see. That was the point. Spencer thought he could control me. I wanted him to see exactly how out of his control I was. I widened my legs, revealing my naked sex to him, and pushed a finger into my slick heat.

I felt his gaze on me. He couldn’t touch me, but he was fucking me with those dark, cruel eyes. Sensation took over. I let my head drop as I fucked myself in front of him. I imagined Holden’s mouth on me as he knelt between my legs. The heat of his tongue as he licked my sensitive flesh. I recalled how he spilled inside me. My breath sped up, my fingers working faster. But then I wasn’t imagining.

A wet tongue lapped between my legs, and my eyes flew open. Spencer’s head was between my legs in clear breach of our no touching agreement. Still, I didn’t care because he was whispering the secrets of the universe to my swollen clit, and I never wanted him to stop.

My hands fisted into the sheets, and I bucked harder against his mouth. My body tightened, each nerve winding round and round and—

Cool air shivered across my wet skin, the heat of Spencer’s mouth gone.

“Wh-what are you doing?” I struggled to find the words. I twisted the sheets between my fingers as my hips wriggled with frustration.

Spencer leaned over the bed, his strong arms bracketing my body. I arched toward him, but he didn’t budge. Instead, he swept his tongue over his lips as if to savor my flavor.

“Don’t ever contradict me again,” he ordered. “Enjoy your evening.”

“You son of a bitch.” I let the sheets go and reached for a pillow to lob at his head.

But he was already to the bathroom door, returning to his attached quarters. I threw the pillow anyway but missed. It crumpled to the floor as I fell against the bed, too angry to finish what he had started.

Chapter Twenty-Five

The Byrd family employed enough lawyers to fill an entire floor of the Gherkin building in London’s financial district. I’d come armed for the occasion in a tightly-fitted red dress. Despite its long sleeves and high neck, it was enough but modest since the skirt stopped a scandalous inch below my bare ass. I’d paired it with sky-high Louboutins in nude leather, making it look as if my legs went on and on forever. Under, I’d chosen a delicate mesh thong with a matching balconette bra in the same attention-grabbing red.

I sauntered into the office like a piece of bait. But while I might look like blood in the water, I was the shark. Spencer could manipulate and tease all he wanted, but I had the money he needed to exact his plan to gain power in his party. Without my wealth, he would never rise high enough to become Prime Minister on his ambitious timetable.

He could marry me, but I wasn’t going to sign over anything without approving it. I might not have come to grips with who I was or my family’s status, but I wasn’t a fool either.

“Miss Belmond,” an older woman caught my attention from her seat behind the reception desk. She blinked as she took me in but did a decent job of hiding her disapproval of how I looked. I could almost see her thoughts flashing over her forehead in lights:

Gold digger.

Of course, that’s what she thought. I couldn’t blame her. I wouldn’t even be here if it wasn’t partially true. Money had lured me into this trap. But what she didn’t know was that I was the one that had it. Spencer Byrd was the gold digger. I smiled politely and nodded my head.

The smile fell from my face when she showed me into a conference room. Spencer was waiting along with a few men who must be the family lawyers along with Tod.
