“Make yourself useful and fold,” she grumbled, dumping a basket of laundry out on the bed in front of Spencer.
“Aye, aye, Captain,” Spencer saluted.
“Major,” Leo corrected.
“Daddy,” Spencer winked before spreading out the heap of laundry in front of her.
Though she turned away to hide it, Leo’s jaw tightened at the complete lack of order Spencer employed, and I couldn’t help but smirk.
Spencer knows exactly what she’s doing. I don’t know how Leo doesn’t see it.
Honestly, the way that Leo folded her clothes was so specific and orderly that I was surprised she let Spencer touch any of it. The bundles of clothes filed into the drawers so that every item of clothing was visible upon opening the drawer.
Beyond that, everything was grouped into categories within the large drawers: shirts were sorted into long sleeves, short sleeves, tanktops, and pajamas. The same was true of her pants and shorts. Even her boxers were sorted by color.
What a woman, I smirked.
As I slipped a pair of baby blue briefs in above her navies, I was struck by just how much I’d changed in the last few months. You couldn’t have caught me dead doing something like this for Gabe. But maybe that was because he acted like it was my job to dote on him rather than a favor.
He was more interested in a fuckable mommy than an actual partnership. Gross.
Leo on the other hand was a grown, competent adult. Nothing was sexier than the fact that she could take care of her own shit — except for the fact that she trusted me enough to help.
It was an honor I didn’t take lightly. Slipping the last pair of boxer briefs in line, I stood back to admire my work when my eyes caught on a rumple in the upper left hand corner of the drawer.
Weird.
I shook my head, moving to neaten it. But the rumple wouldn’t smooth. Like it was caught on something.
With a sigh, I pulled the boxers out, hoping that I could fix whatever was causing the lump. But where I expected to meet the pilled fabric of some forgotten sock, soft fur and cool metal greeted me instead.
Mischief pulled at my cheeks as I lifted the clinking hardware from the drawer and held it up toward Leo. “Doctor Callahan, what are you doing with these?”
Leo’s brow furrowed until her eyes landed on the fuzzy handcuffs dangling from my fingers.
“Give me that,” she hissed, snatching them before the command had fully left her lips.
But she couldn’t tuck them away before Spencer saw them.
On the bed, she was sitting at full attention, her half-assed folding job forgotten as a shit-eating grin painted her face. “Where’d you get those, a bachelorette party?”
“Shut the fuck up,” Leo rolled her eyes as she slammed the drawer shut.
But Spencer was like a dog with a bone. “That’s like, starter-pack shit. I bet you don’t even know how to use them.”
At that, Leo lifted a brow. “I think we all know that I know how to use them, asshole.”
My mind flashed back to the night of my Initiation, being cuffed and strung up, completely at my captors whim.
She knows how to use those things, alright.
But that didn’t stop Spencer from laughing, “I bet pink looks great on you, Leo. Don’t be shy, give us a show.”
“Very funny,” Leo growled. I could feel the heat rolling off of her as she pulled the drawer back open. “Keep it up while I remind you exactly how I use those things.”
Spencer nearly choked at that, “You want to put them on me?”
“You fucking wish,” she growled before grabbing my wrist, spinning me around, and cuffing my hands behind my back.
