And she wouldn’t be letting three godless Freaks hunt her through the park.

At least she’s safe with us.

As Blade moved to the front of the van, hopping into the driver’s seat and slamming her hands against the metal grate that separated the prisoners in the back from her, she yelled. “Come on, piggies. Time for the slaughter!”

A sinister laugh came through her mask, muffled.

Shaking my head, I hopped into my Lambo. I sunk into the orange and black seats, letting the rumble of the engine wash over me.

Cyrus got into the passenger seat of the white van, ready for any violence our tied up prisoners might attempt.

As we peeled out of the warehouse, my mind went back to Tess.

She’d been such a good girl back at the home, always willing to play by the rules. But something must have happened to her along the way.

No longer a God-fearing child, but a rebellious adult.

Maybe God abandoned her the same way he’d abandoned us.

My heart ached to see her again, the brand on my leg stinging at the thought of being near her. I needed more.

But before I could get my hands on Tess, we needed to finish our business.

Following behind the van, I felt my excitement growing.

Time for some good, old fashioned blood spilling.

CYRUS

I could hear every breath in my ears as I watched the wrought iron gate peel open.

Looking over my shoulder, I looked out into the darkness of the park, knowing that buried in the Jungle of Feverpoint, Tess was locked up in my home.

She had no idea what we were capable of yet.

Good. I need her to let her guard down.

The safer she felt, the better my revenge would be.

But I needed a release — one away from Tess’ prying eyes. A chance to really let go.

The white van’s tail lights lit up as Blade reversed the van into the park. The trunk lined up perfectly with the iron fence. Feverpoint’s entrance made a perfect kettle into the park, making it perfect for the Running of the Scumbags.

They’d have nowhere to run except farther into our labyrinth.

My bloodthirst sat on the tip of my tongue, every inch of my body begging for relief.

Every hunt with Tess had been a tease, not enough to get my aggression out. All of it just kept building.

What was worse was the way having her in my apartment made me feel.

I couldn’t let her charm her way out of this. Not again.

I need to level out.

And a classic Fright Night was exactly what the doctor ordered. No illusion of a decades-worth of revenge. Just blood. Just violence.
