“Elora...”

“Just shut up.”

“I'll leave you alone.” He goes to turn around.

“Now you're leaving me by myself while I'm carrying your child. Don't you love me enough to stay by my side?” I say more upset than angry now. Axe just stares at me with the most confused frown.

So that was just one example of me snapping at Axe. I feel embarrassed to have acted like that but I really can't control my moods. Axe has figured out how to deal with me when I'm like that. I'm constantly annoyed but now that I'm nine months pregnant, I don't have the energy to even snap anymore.

“I'm not hungry.” I don't even bother to see what he brought me.

“Do you need anything?”

“Lie down with me.”

Axe gets in the bed behind me, resting his hand on my belly. There haven't been a lot of times in this pregnancy with silence and intimacy since I've always got angry when Axe spoons me. But now that I know the baby is coming soon, I want to spend some loving time with Axe before that happens.

“This might be our last chance to do it for a while,” I whisper.

“You actually want to?” Axe asks, clearly thrown off by my suggestion.

“Yes.”

Axe slips my pants down and lies as close to me as he can. We stay in the spooning position so it's comfortable for me. We don't have many options with my big belly. Axe keeps his movements slow, holding onto my hip gently. Soft moans leave my mouth while we make love. When the orgasm racks through me, it takes all my energy. Once Axe pulls out of me, I fall asleep quickly.

Chapter Seventy

Ithink I'm nearing labour. The past couple hours I have felt belly aches which are most likely contractions. It's nothing too painful yet and my water hasn't broken so I'm still at home. Dr Cindy did explain what to expect so I'm going to stay in the comfort of my own home until I definitely need to go to the infirmary.

“Honey, are you okay?” Axe asks walking back into the room.

“Yeah.”

“Well, Carson is on her way. She wants to be here for it and Dash has gone to get Lizzy to come. Are you in pain?”

“Nothing too bad yet.”

“I wish you'd go to the infirmary now.” Axe sighs, sitting on the bed.

“Axe, do you know how long labour can last? I want to be as comfortable as I can before I have to give birth.”

“Your comfort is the most important thing right now. How about we talk about names while we're waiting?”

I groan. “Axe, we've talked about names.”

We're keeping it a surprise if it's a boy or girl. We've talked about names for both, but nothing has stood out, so we're still thinking. I guess we'll wait until we see the baby and see if it just springs to us. I look at the cot in the corner of the room. We have all the baby supplies we need. We decided we would keep the baby in our room for a short time to make it easier. Axe has gotten my old room ready, though, for when the time comes for the baby to be in a different room.

“Any last words before our lives change forever?” Axe chuckles.

“Hmm.” I chuckle. “I love you even when I'm angry at you. Just remember that.”

“I love you.” Axe kisses me sweetly.

“Ahh.” I groan as another pain shoots through me. I can feel them gradually getting worse.

“This is going to be hard to watch.” Axe stares at me with concern.

“It's going to be even harder to endure.”
