A date. Felicity was on a date.
What. The. Fuck…
* * *
As much as she hated missing the team’s first away game, there was no way in hell Felicity was missing her theatre date with Lulu. She'd bought tickets to see The Sound of Music almost a year ago, long before the preseason schedule was released. Lulu had been playing the soundtrack on repeat ever since Zara had shown her the movie version that previous Christmas. The look on Lulu’s face hadn’t disappointed when Felicity had told her that she’d landed them box seats at the Fox Theatre for the performance.
The only problem was that Felicity’s mind was not on the show playing out in front of them. Instead, her thoughts were completely overrun by Gunnar Gracin and that kiss. That really hot kiss. It didn’t matter that she was surrounded by families at a matinee, watching a musical about nuns and Nazis—two of the least sexy things ever—her mind kept returning to just how good his hands felt on her. Because they had felt good. Damn good.
No, better than good. There were not words for all the things she’d felt when he’d yanked her into him. The feeling of their two bodies colliding should have made her want to run for the hills that Maria had been singing about not that long ago, but no. Instead it had lit her up inside, making her crave more. More of his touch, more of his kiss, more of his taste. Hell, more of that raw intensity that she’d experienced when he was standing between her legs, grinding against her core.
"How does dinner sound?” Felicity asked as she and Lulu made their way out of the theatre. “Your pick.”
“We can go anywhere?” Lulu asked in return.
“Anywhere you want. My treat.”
“Can we go to Bunz?”
“Bunz?” Felicity looked at her sister, a little taken aback by the request. “I’m not sure—”
“I know what it is. Danielle went with her mom last week. She says the guys are really hot!”
“What do you know about hot guys?”
“I’m fourteen, not four!”
Felicity sighed, taking in the teenager before her. It didn’t seem like all that long ago she’d been a toddler running around, but now here she was, looking way more grown up than she should. Had she been this way at fourteen? Her memories were clouded by her mother’s illness and how that had seemed to take over their lives. When ShariLou got sick, everything had changed. At the time she’d been thankful that her parents had hired BobbiJo. She’d been so easy to talk to and felt more like a much older sister than anything else. That was until she discovered otherwise.
“Fine,” she acquiesced, pulling up Lyft on her phone to take them the couple of blocks over to the restaurant. She couldn’t believe she was agreeing to this, but at least she would be able to make sure that they got a server who was going to be well-behaved.
Piling out of the car, Lulu was wide-eyed as she looked up at the sign outside the restaurant. “I’m so excited! You’re friends with the owner, right?”
“I am,” Felicity answered, nodding at the hostess as they walked into the lobby. The young gal motioned for them to follow her and led them to a booth in the back corner.
“But we can’t see the TV,” Lulu whined. “We won’t be able to see Tripp and the team!”
“You know Tripp isn’t actually playing, right? I’m not sure the camera will ever be on him.”
“It might!”
Felicity sighed, looking to the hostess, who thankfully was quick enough on her feet to move them to a table that had a decent view of the large screen.
“Well, hellllooooo ladies!” Link said, slipping into an unoccupied chair at the table. Turning to Lulu, he put on an extra charming smile and said, “I know this beauty to my right, but who might you be, gorgeous?”
“I’m Lulu,” she said, starting to blush. For all her insistence earlier that she knew all about hot guys, she certainly didn’t know how to react now that one was talking to her.
“Well, Miss Lulu, what can I get you to drink?”
“Uhh, just Coke.”
“One Coke coming up. And are you drinking your norm tonight?” he asked, turning to Felicity.
“Make that two Cokes, please.”
Link nodded and winked at her, pushing up from the table and heading over to get their drinks.
“Is he your boyfriend?” Lulu asked, her voice hushed.
