He kisses me softly, rolling off me, then pulling me into his chest.
“You make me feel safe,” I whisper.
I’m not sure if it’s loud enough for him to hear, so I consider saying it again. Or maybe not. Because it’s a weird thing to say to someone. But then he replies.
“You make me feel safe too, Sawyer.”
Swooooon…
There’s a light knock at the door, both of us freezing at the sound.
“If you two are done in there…” Willa playfully sasses, followed by the whoosh of something sliding under the door.
Anton pops off the bed, his bare ass as perfect as the peaches in his groves, walking over to pick up the index card on the floor. The laugh he lets out has me curious what it says, but I wait, knowing that he’ll share in a second.
Sure enough, he turns back around, handing me the card.

“Looks like you won’t lose your bet after all,” I say.
“Guess not. Although, that’s not really what I’m thinking about at the moment.”
I quirk up an eyebrow. Oh, really…
“And what exactly are you thinking about?”
“If two people will fit in the new shower Miss Belle installed in that bathroom when she redid it a couple of years ago.”
Anton’s impish smile returns, lighting a whole new fire inside me.
“Only one way to find out.”
