Wrapping my arms around his neck, I savor him, tasting myself on his lips. In my new blissed out state, I’m falling even harder for this man than ever before. Not because of what he just did to me—although that won’t be held against him—but for all the things he said before. For how he sees me for me, respecting my choice of profession, and is here for it. Considering this is someone who knows almost all my secrets, that’s saying something.
“Ewan,” I murmur, burying my head in his shoulder.
Pulling me into him, he wraps his arms around me in a bear hug, his warmth enveloping me.
“Yeah, baby?”
“I still can’t show up empty-handed. Not the first time.” I pull back, fighting a smile as I look at him. “My mama and Grandma would never let me hear the end of it.”
Ewan chuckles, kissing me softly. “Understood. Let’s go shower and then we can swing by Wright’s on the way over. Sound good?”
“Are we conserving water?” I ask, trying to be cute.
“Oh, there will be none of that,” Ewan goes serious. “I have plans for you in the shower too.”
“Oh?”
Ewan winks, lifting me off the counter and walking toward the bathroom.
“Yup.”
