ZOMBIE
“Where’s Savvy?”
After walking away from Lucy at the gala, I went in search of Savvy and found her lip-locked with Jonathon on a narrow path away from the crowd. To say she was less than thrilled at the interruption is an understatement. I told her I was leaving, and she opted to stay with the assurance of her kissing partner that he’d make sure she got home in one piece.
I grin at Lyric. “She stayed behind.”
“Did you at least meet the guy?”
“Of course. I’m not a fucking idiot,” I snap, offended that he’d even consider that I might leave one of our girls in a dangerous situation.
Lyric holds his hands up. “Noted. How’d it go with Michael?”
At the mention of the man’s name, my muscles tense. “It went. I reminded him what would happen if he moves forward with the sale of the property. I’m not, uh…” I clear my throat as my mind fills with the memory of why his reaction might have been less than ideal. Adjusting my growing boner, I say, “Not sure he got the memo.”
“Why not?” my pres snarls, clocking my action.
I shrug. “My timing may have been less than ideal.”
“Goddammit, Zombie.” He shoves a hand through his hair. “What the fuck did you do?”
It’s impossible to hide my smile, so I don’t even bother to try. “Let’s just say he didn’t take it well when he was upstaged in front of the new vet who, I can confirm, is ‘made for fucking’.”
“You didn’t.”
“I didn’t fuck her,” I assure him, and when he visibly relaxes, I continue. “Not with my cock, anyway.”
“Jesus,” he mutters. “I don’t even wanna know.”
“Probably best, Pres.”
“So, we still have to worry about Michael?”
“If he has even an ounce of self-preservation, no, but we both know we’re better off keeping a hope for the best but expect the fucking worst frame of mind.”
“I hope like hell that Trick and Quake have better luck with Morris Baker.”
“I take it they’re not back yet?”
The club decided that they’d confront Baker tonight while I was at the gala so that he and Martin couldn’t warn each other. We’d made attempts to find both men after that church session, but Baker had left town, so we opted to wait.
Lyric shakes his head. “I talked to Pilot earlier, and he said they’re flying back tomorrow. Trick and Quake had just left to head to Baker’s place, so I’m just waiting on their call.”
Before I can say anything, his cell rings, and he answers it on speakerphone. “Give me good news, brother.”
“Wish I could, Pres,” Trick comments.
“Asshole wasn’t home,” Quake states. “Took some sweet talking, but we managed to get his housekeeper to talk. She said he’s out of town on business and is scheduled to return tomorrow.”
“Ten minutes of sweet talking and a few hundred bucks, and she agreed not to tell him we stopped by,” Trick adds. “Can you have Scrubs work some of his magic to find out where exactly this guy is? Maybe we can catch up to him somewhere tonight.”
We walk through the clubhouse toward Scrubs’ room. His door is closed, but that doesn’t stop Lyric from going in unannounced. I burst out laughing when we find Scrubs balls deep in Lulu, his bare ass on display.
“Get out, Lu,” Lyric demands.
“Two seconds,” Scrubs pleads, and before Lyric can deny him, he groans out his release. When he’s done, he crawls off the club whore and smacks her thigh. “Get out.”
