What Wraith had done was repugnant, and anyone decent would think so. Konrad would not hide how he felt to protect his deplorable husband’s feelings. If Wraith didn’t want people repulsed by him, he should not be so repulsive as to fuck ghosts.
For a second there, he’d almost felt like Wraith might be somewhat different from the other necromancers. But he was just as despicable.
You promised to treat him with respect.
Taking a deep breath, Konrad crossed to his dresser and opened the door, deliberately not looking at Wraith. He closed his eyes and tried to compose himself. “I should dress and start the day. I have matters to attend to.”
Hopefully, whilst he was out, Wraith would return to his own rooms and not come back. Then Konrad would not have to deal with any more necromancer vileness.
Wraith rose from the bed and began to dress in his clothes from the day before. Although, he did not put on his cape with the feathers, and he left his hair loose and free of the bone pins. Instead he just left the cape and pins where they were.
Konrad approached the door. Wraith followed, and they left the room together.
Silently, they strode down the corridor, Konrad’s guards following. An older servant approached.
“Your Majesties.” The servant bowed.
Konrad came to a stop. So did Wraith.
“Yes, Martin?” Konrad said, trying to keep his voice neutral.
“The king consort’s belongings have arrived. Do you wish us to bring them into your room and unpack them today?” the servant asked.
“My belongings have arrived? Here?” Wraith clearly had not expected this either.
“They arrived late last night. We did not wish to disturb you so have placed them in a closet for now,” Martin said.
“I see.” Wraith clasped his hands tightly in front of himself.
Konrad’s mind raced. Unfortunately there were no spare rooms in their quarters. They’d moved to smaller rooms after the attack in their old ones. Which meant unless Konrad could think of something else, Wraith would be staying in his room.
He tried to think of a solution but couldn’t. Reluctantly he said, “You can bring them into my room.”
It seemed he wouldn’t be getting rid of Wraith so easily.
Chapter
Twenty
Wraith had planned to leave the Draconian rooms. But now he wondered if he should just remain. After all, his belongings were here. And he had nowhere to really go. Also, he’d like to wash and change his clothes.
But the scowl on Konrad’s face made his displeasure with Wraith’s continued presence crystal clear.
So Wraith stammered, “I … ah … will leave you now.”
Then he strode ahead, leaving Konrad and the Draconian quarters. Wraith knew he’d return far too soon for Konrad’s liking. But he would definitely not go into Konrad’s room without an express invitation. He’d hate to face Konrad’s anger … again.
Konrad had been so enraged when he discovered Wraith had had sex with ghosts.
His heart raced and his skin flushed as he remembered Konrad’s words. Repulsive. Revolting. That was what Konrad thought of Wraith. It wasn’t enough to merely hate Wraith; he was disgusted by him too.
Wraith swallowed. He could not know what the big deal was about him having sex with ghosts. Obviously, it was not common. One had to see ghosts, or at least feel them, in order to have sex with them. Or the ghost had to be strong enough to physically manifest.
But Wraith could not see how it was so very bad. The ghosts had been interested in him. So had Wraith on the occasions when he’d engaged with them. And it was not like he or the spirits had been too young.
So why is Konrad repulsed?
Wraith didn’t understand. But that feeling was not unusual. He had so much trouble understanding others. It appeared that was not limited to just other necromancers; he had trouble understanding his Draconian husband too.
