I don’t look away though. Not anymore.
“I’m serious.”
“You can’t give me money for sucking your dick, Lane. That’s weird.”
“No one will know.”
“I’ll know,” I say firmly. “Please don’t do it.”
“You deserve it regardless.”
“I don’t care. I don’t want it.” I kiss him quickly. “Don’t make me go to HR.”
His head falls back, and he laughs, so I go in to kiss his throat. He always smells so good here. Not like cologne or aftershave or soap, just some kind of smell that’s his. Only his. Nothing you could ever replicate.
He groans lowly before gripping my chin and pressing his lips firmly against mine.
“I never would have thought you’d be this fun.”
My eyes widen. “Rude.”
Shrugging, he says, “You were pretty serious about your job.”
“I still am.”
“Right. But you also just gave me a blow job under my desk.”
“Which is a pretty serious thing. We could get caught.”
“By who? No one comes back here.”
“You never know,” I say, moving to get up. His arms tighten around me and he pulls me closer, kissing me again.
“Lane—” I complain, but it ends with me laughing, so of course he doesn’t take me seriously. He just keeps doing it.
And I don’t hate it.
It’s not the first time I have enjoyed him touching me. Being next to him. Looking at him.
It started off with looking at him, obviously. That was easy. He’s hot. Tolerating him came next. It didn’t take long, but once I realized he wasn’t the asshole I thought he was, being around him was kind of enjoyable. He’s funny. And so smart.
But now… now there’s more. Now there is something that I’m feeling deep in my chest. Something I’m trying to push away because this isn’t the life I want.
And I don’t mean being his assistant and him being my boss.
I don’t want to be involved with someone with the amount of money he has. It’s not the kind of life I want to live.
Yet… thinking about a life with him, it’s not as bad as it was before. Which just irritates me. I wanted to avoid this. I thought getting into this line of work would make me avoid it. A daily reminder of why you don’t get close to people who have money.
I was so wrong.
“I have to get back to work,” I say, pushing on his chest.
“We don’t have a meeting until one.”
“I have other things I need to do.”
“Nothing that can’t wait,” he says, kissing along my jaw.
