Unable to stay apart, we reached the dressing room where Sam had prepped earlier. His fingers circled my wrist, and he pushed me inside the room, kicking the door shut and pressing my back against it. His lips crashed onto mine. Assertive fingers hoisted my dress up to my hips. Positioning me on my front against the cold surface of the table, he sheathed his erection with a condom, and after ruining my panties with a flick of his hand, plunged himself deep inside me in one possessive thrust. The earth opened underneath my feet. Every single molecule of air left me. My head whirled. Right and wrong, black and white, up and down, everything got admixed together.
With his hand seizing my ass, Sam pumped inside me, blurring my vision. My hands clutched the edge of the table, and with each piston of his hips, the room spun around, both of us intoxicated with each other.
Adrenaline poured out from him. It left me giddy and ravenous for more.
Our bodies met thrust for thrust. Our breaths mingled. Our hands sought blazing skin.
He turned me around and sat me on the table, positioning himself between my legs. My nails left marks on his shoulders as I held on tight for the ride of my life.
Post-concert, Sam’s arousal was my demise. A euphoric demise. Growls—guttural barks—mixed with the sound of our skins slapping. Sam rammed into me with purpose, breaking me and gluing me back together all at once. His hands cherished my flesh as he built me to his touch.
“Maddie, you feel so perfect. You are my perfect.”
He leaned in, and I cocked my head back when his teeth brushed against my right collarbone. The words, his words, they always brought a fresh batch of dampness to my eyes. Sam pulled me into his arms, spearing me from under, harder, faster, branding me with promises and forevers.
With my arms around his neck, we melt together and reached our climax, our tongues swirling and our mouths starving.
“I love you.”
He tugged me closer to his heart. “Maddie, you already are everything I could ever hope for in this life. I waited for you for so long—” His voice trembled. He blew out a hissing breath. “Everything I went through wasn’t in vain if it meant I’d find you on the other side. I would do it all over again, just for a chance to be seen by you. To be kissed by you. And to hear those words.”
Framing his face between my hands, I kissed the tears building up in his eyes. My beautiful man. Strong and brave. Real and oh so talented.
Sam slipped out of me, and the withdrawal sent chills through me.
His lips connected with my bare shoulder.
“This was just the appetizer,” he said with a wink. “To get the angst out until later when we’re all alone.”
My pulse turned into an orchestra and fireworks show.

One month later
The girls rushed into bed, wrapping their small arms around Madison’s neck and mine, laughing.
“We made breakfast,” Justine announced as I ruffled her hair and nuzzled her neck, my eyelids still half-shut from sleep.
My eyes sprang open, and every remaining trace of sleep vanished. “You did?” I asked, exchanging a scared glance with the woman who shared my bed and presently snickering behind her hand.
“Yes. We made cedredals.”
“Cereals, Justine. Repeat after me. Ce-re-als.”
My baby girl’s smile widened. “Cerededrials.”
“We’ll practice later,” Madison said, nudging my arm.
“I love you,” I mouthed her way.
She flustered. “I love you too,” she repeated.
“Sorry. We never get a chance to cuddle in the morning when they’re up early.”
She shrugged. With a grin. She looked so beautiful with the wild strands of her hair spread on my pillow.
