Cam sighed. “Yeah, Jasper’s sicko of a dad had just ordered the guards to shoot the omegas who weren’t pregnant when that Alpha Brandon burst in the room. Is it me, or is that guy hot as fuck?”

“Focus, Cam.”

“Right, sorry. I’m afraid those assholes killed three of the omegas and injured a couple more before Brandon took them out. But Sascha is pregnant, so Jasper’s dad already had him pulled to the side and he wasn’t hurt. Well, not shot anyway.”

That’s right… The scenario right before he’d tackled Jasper’s father drifted back.

“It’s all so crazy.” Hawk regarded Cam. “Does that mean the Yukon Deltas are done for as a pack?”

Cam scratched his head. “I think that’s all being worked out still. A thorough investigation has been ordered, that’s for sure.”

“Man, Deltas can go feral so easily. Remember in school, in our shifter history class?”

Cam nodded. “Yeah, we were lucky we weren’t found out then, just like with this situation. I mean, how many gold miners have to get eaten before the locals start getting suspicious?”

Hawk considered the hospital logo on the side of his sippy cup. “Speaking of suspicious humans, how’d I ever get past the X-rays here without freaking out the entire staff?”

“Oh, your surgeon is a shifter. He brought in his own team to work on you, insisted you were a special case.”

Hawk snorted. “That’s one way to put it.”

Cameron filled him in on a few more details of the siege, including his own role that had involved the aforementioned ‘hot as fuck’ Brandon asking Cameron to watch over Sascha while everyone else worked on securing the scene. A group of shifters would remain at the location indefinitely until it was completely sanitized. Eventually, a determination would have to be made over what to do with the property.

Hawk’s eyelids grew heavy and his thoughts drifted to his beautiful mate and their unborn child. If Cameron had heard correctly, and he was pardoned of all charges, maybe he and Jasper could begin their new life together immediately.

Together.

His solitary days of living in a shack were over and he was the happiest shifter alive.

Epilogue

Ugh.

Jasper attempted to roll over in his and Hawk’s new king size bed, but beached whales weren’t that coordinated.

That’s what I feel like, anyway.

No matter how many times Hawk told him how beautiful he was, or kissed and cuddled him, Hawk’s hands never ceasing to roam whenever they came in contact with Jasper’s body—he still thought he was a disaster.

And my stomach. Stretch marks for days.

Being such a little guy hadn’t made things any easier. The baby tumbled around inside him as if there was endless space. Jasper was always checking for bruises whenever a sharp elbow or heel would jab his insides then drag its way across the top of his belly. As if commenting, Jasper’s abdomen made a couple visible jerks to one side.

Jasper rubbed his tummy. Sometimes he sang to the baby, but his exhaustion levels over the past week had been epic—he could barely catch his breath. He didn’t have it in him.

“I’m sorry, Terry or Terri.”

Naming a child was an important aspect of Yup’ik tradition, and a baby was named after the last person in the community, or family, who had died as a way for the deceased person to live on. Hawk had asked if they could use his mother’s name for the baby’s middle one, since it was gender-neutral. However, once the story of how Yup’ik babies were named had been explained to him, he’d insisted they use Hawk’s mother’s name as the first one. They would use Hawk’s given name of George, or the feminized Georgia, for the middle one instead.

“There’s my gorgeous daddy-to-be.”

Hawk entered the bedroom of their small home located within Wolf Creek Pack territory. The two-bedroom A-frame cabin had enough room so they could build an add-on as their family grew.

“I can’t move, Hawk.” Jasper held out his arms. “Help me.”

“You need to pee? Are you hungry?”

“No. Just fat.”
