As soon as Hawk pushed past his tight rim, Jasper groaned in satisfaction. This is what I’ve been needing. Hawk slid in carefully, but once he was fully seated, he wrapped his fingers around Jasper’s heated length again. He gently rocked his hips, stroking Jasper in time with his languid movements.
“Did you come already, baby?”
Jasper’s eyes flew open in confusion. It might have been a while, but he was pretty sure he remembered what an orgasm felt like. He ran his palm down his torso to check his cock, but when he brushed it over his navel, he snatched his hand away.
The fuck?
“I’m leaking!”
Hawk froze. “What do you mean?”
“Oh gods, the baby’s coming. My water broke!”
Hawk seemed to soften in record time. He pulled out of Jasper then sat up, grabbing Jasper’s hand with his jaw hanging open.
“How do you know for sure?”
“Elam told me. He explained everything to me in vivid, lurid detail. Oh man, my lower back feels all tight and weird. Can you help prop me up against the pillows?”
“Shouldn’t I call someone first?” Hawk stared at him with wide eyes, his voice edged with panic.
“No. Pillows first, call second. Elam said he’d be here with me anytime, day or night. Oh, and of course we’ll need Asha.”
Hawk nodded, but he didn’t seem prepared to move.
“Hawk? Do you want me to make the calls?”
He blinked at Jasper as if he were crazy then jumped to his feet. “I’ve got it, don’t worry. You stay there and don’t move.”
Jasper gave him a thumbs up.
Hawk grabbed his cell then ran into the other room to get hold of everyone, and Jasper had to chuckle. He couldn’t tell if Hawk was afraid he’d sound too frantic on the phone and upset him, or if maybe he didn’t want Jasper to witness him coming unglued.
While he waited for Hawk to return, he grabbed the burgundy fleece throw he liked to use when he sat on the couch and draped it over his legs just below his belly. He squinted, doing his best to get a clear look at his navel.
I could swear its opened up a bit already.
Elam had told him that the first thing he’d notice, besides the fluid, was the dime-sized opening of his belly-button.
Jasper clenched his fists.
Whoa. That was intense.
The tightness in his lower back had suddenly changed to a heartier squeeze accompanied by the hint of an ache. Something told him the real fun was about to begin.
* * * *
Hawk paced back and forth in the living room, alternating between thumbnail chewing then pausing to tap his fingers on the fireplace mantel. He was sure he presented quite a picture. Elam was dozing on their couch and his poor exhausted mate was fitfully napping between excruciating contractions.
It’s been almost twelve hours. Shouldn’t he be done by now?
He supposed it wasn’t quite the same as cooking a roast, but he couldn’t help but be worried. Asha had warned them that because of Jasper’s size, they might have to do a Caesarian if the labor went on too long. The nearest Alliance obstetrician had been alerted and was already on his way.
Asha appeared in the doorway of the bedroom. She grinned as she waved him in. “Hawk? I think your baby is ready to make an appearance.”
He rushed forward and tripped over the leg of the coffee table, catching his balance just in time to keep from face-planting on the hardwood floor. Elam jerked awake with a snuffling snort.
“Is it time?”
