Sean glanced up at Morty. “Wow. You’re right. The wood really is seasoned. I love the sound.”

Morty grinned. “We have a deal then?”

“Yes, we do.” Sean chewed his lip as he considered something else. “Um, I saw that flyer about

music lessons. How much are they?” Since he had money left over from his guitar budget, he might

have enough.

Morty rubbed his chin. “I tell you what. Percy might splash up a fuss, but since you’re buying

the guitar from me, I’ll give you a twenty percent discount. That would make it fifty dollars a month,

one session per week. That sound fair?”

Sean bounced on the stool. He’d have enough for lessons with some money left over for picks

and maybe a treat from Sweet Bites. “Very fair. Thank you so much.”

After he’d filled out all the paperwork for his lessons and bought a half dozen rainbow colored

picks, he clutched his new guitar to his body then headed back into the sunshine. He’d have to carry

his purchase very carefully because he hadn’t been able to afford a case yet. At least Morty had given

him an old strap he could use temporarily.

As Sean strolled along the road back to the Inn, he wished more than ever he’d thought to ask

Avi for his number. But at the same time, another idea had begun to form in his mind. Now that he

knew Avi loved music so much, maybe he could reach him another way.

Maybe a song written only for him would make Avi finally take notice.

Chapter Three

As he drove toward his office at the fire station, Avi wondered how much more he could take of

pushing Sean away. After leaving the Inn that morning, he’d gone into town to run some errands, only

to discover that he’d left his wallet back at the restaurant. He knew it was because he’d been so

flustered at breakfast from Sean waiting on him and that he wasn’t thinking straight. Once he’d

retrieved his errant billfold, he’d then discovered Sean strolling along the road leading back to town.

He hadn’t been able to stop himself from offering the enticing omega a ride.

I was only being courteous. Avi snorted. Bullshit.

After having his arms around Sean not once, but twice, he’d known he was toast.

Or scrambled egg.

On impulse, Avi jerked the truck into the parking lot of Holy Father Are Thy Name church. He

parked then tapped the steering wheel as he stared at the front door. The front door that’s wide open.
