“That’s your entire understanding of a fall festival?”
“What else is there?”
“Cider, donuts, and corn mazes. There are hayrides, pumpkin patches, food, games, and probably some good music.” She smiled.
“That sounds exhausting.”
“It sounds fun.” She grinned.
“And you didn’t just decide that you and I were going,” I said. “You called my father and invited him.”
“And Mary. Don’t forget I invited Mary. And your father sounded excited.”
“Trust me. My father is not excited about fall festivals.”
“Yes, he is. I heard it in his voice,” she said.
“He was being polite, Bella. And then I got scolded by him because of you.”
“I thought it was cute.” She laughed.
“How long are we going to be there?” I asked.
“Simon.” She playfully smacked my chest.
“I’m asking a legitimate question, Bella.”
“I can’t believe you’re already planning your escape.” She shook her head.
“I’m a planner. You know that.”
“You’ll have fun. I promise.”
“Will there be alcohol there?” I asked.
“At ten in the morning?” Her brows furrowed.
“I’m trying to find something to look forward to,” I smirked. “You know what’s really weird?”
“What?”
“You calling my father.”
“We’re still talking about that? Does it bother you?”
“No,” I quickly answered.
“Are you sure?”
“Yeah.” My grip around her tightened.
“Because if I crossed a line,” she said.
“You didn’t. It just caught me off guard.”
“I thought it would be nice,” she said.
“For him?”
