“I want you, Landon.”

His eyes closed for one brief second. When they opened again, hunger lived there with something more tender.

“You got me, love.”

I kissed him before he could ruin me with another sentence.

Landon stood with me in his arms. I gasped and locked my legs around his waist.

“You could’ve warned me.”

“You said you wanted me. I’m improving delivery time.”

“That degree ruined you.”

“Nah.” His mouth touched my neck as he carried me toward the bedroom. “You just meeting the practical application.”

“Insufferable.”

“You like it.”

Unfortunately.

The bedroom waited in dim light from the hall and the occasional flicker of lightning beyond the windows. Landon lowered me onto the bed and stood between my knees.

I reached for him. “You staring.”

“I know.”

“Shameless.”

“Especially now.” I caught the hem of his shirt and pulled him closer. He looked down at me. “Because you’re mine.”

The words should have felt possessive.

They didn’t.

They felt reciprocal.

I slid my palms beneath his shirt. “And you’re mine.”

His breath changed.

That pleased me more than it should have.

“Say that again.”

“You heard me.”

“I did.” His fingers touched beneath my chin. “I wanna hear what it sounds like twice.”

I smiled. “You’re mine, Landon.”

“Yeah.” His voice lowered. “I am.”

I lifted his shirt, and he pulled it over his head before lowering himself over me. Skin against skin changed the temperature of everything. My hands moved over his back while his mouth traveled from mine to my neck, my shoulder, my collarbone. When his fingers caught the hem of the oversized shirt, they stopped.

I lifted my arms.
