Amelie laughed lightly, the familiar criticism only eliciting a minor wince.

“Hardly.” Regina stepped forward again, placing one hand on Amelie’s waist from behind as she reached around with the other, picking up a singular piece of the teapot.

Amelie felt her knees go weak at the contact, her heartbeat getting louder and more noticeable.

“Mending is something that every witch should study, not just Kitchen Witches. Besides, you can’t be good at everything you try, that would just be horribly boring.”

Amelie nodded, swallowing as Regina’s other hand moved from her waist to the counter, grabbing another piece of the teapot. Arms wrapped around Amelie, Regina murmured an incantation under her breath and held her palms out forward as the pieces of the teapot began to float back into their original shape.

It was a basic spell, but Amelie could hardly breathe. She could feel Regina’s chest against her back, the warmth of her arms surrounding her, and the soft puff of her breath on the back of her neck.

Amelie tried to remain as still as she could as Regina worked her magic, worried that she would simply fall apart if she tried to do anything to help. So instead, she just watched, breathing shallowly as the teapot began to knit itself back together.

Each witch’s magic was different, and watching Regina’s was truly like watching a dance. Each piece spun and twirled through the air as though they were moving through every possible combination before settling upon their original positions. The patience with which Regina worked was calming despite the fluttering of Amelie’s heart, and by the time the teapot was whole once again, placed back on the table, Amelie felt as though she’d been put into some sort of trance.

“There we go,” Regina murmured, her lips dangerously close to Amelie’s ear.

Even though the other witch did not have the excuse of fixing the teapot anymore, she kept her hands on the countertop around Amelie’s waist.

“You alright there?” Regina’s voice was filled with mischief as she pressed slightly against Amelie’s back.

“I… yes.” Amelie stuttered. She could feel her heart beating between her legs now, and she was simultaneously petrified that Regina would somehow know and hoping desperately that she would do something about it.

Regina moved her hands from the countertop to Amelie’s waist and prompted her to turn around. When she did, Amelie found herself only a breath’s width away from the other witch’s lips. Bracing herself on the counter, Amelie hoped and prayed that her legs wouldn’t give out underneath her.

“When you said that you’d been waiting for me…” Amelie started, searching Regina’s eyes for any hint of what she was thinking. “What did you mean… exactly?”

A ghost of a smile played at the taller woman’s lips as she brought a single, inky black hand up to Amelie’s face, brushing a stray lock of hair out of the way. Then, tilting her head, Regina bit her lower lip ever so slightly.

“What do you think I meant?” Regina’s voice was low and sultry as the Divination Witch stepped forward again, sliding a single leg between Amelie’s, effectively pinning her against the counter.

Amelie tried her best not to whimper at the pressure and settled on a heavy exhale as she felt herself getting wetter. The hand Regina still had on her waist tightened as her other hand slid to the back of her neck.

Holy fuck, I want her to kiss me so badly.

Amelie relaxed into the other woman’s embrace, squeezing Regina’s leg gently between her thighs.

“I don’t know,” Amelie confessed, their lips now only centimeters apart. “But I’m really, really hoping that you meant something gay about it.”

Regina’s smile broadened at Amelie’s confession, and for a moment, Amelie thought that the other witch was going to lean in and kiss her, but the sound of something clattering to the ground from the hallway popped their bubble, pulling them both back into reality.

“What was that?” Amelie snapped her head to the side in the direction from where the sound had come. Regina too, stepped back and pivoted her body to the side, but she seemed considerably less startled than Amelie.

Just when Amelie was going to ask again, Salem came bolting out from the hallway entrance, followed very closely by a tan-and-black-spotted feline that the blonde had never seen before.

Regina placed her hands on her hips and sighed, looking back at Amelie apologetically.

“I was wondering when Copa would make an appearance.” Regina’s head moved slightly as she watched Salem lead the other animal around the kitchen. It wasn’t until they slowed down, perching on the counter to sniff at the new additions to the cathedral, that Amelie actually got a good look at the second blur.

“Is that an ocelot?” Amelie’s mouth dropped open in shock.

Copa glanced in the blonde’s direction as though she knew Amelie was talking about her, blinked several times, and then got to work cleaning her spotted coat.

Regina covered her mouth with her hand and laughed softly. “That’s Copa, Hestia’s familiar. She tends to take naps in the library until Salem makes an appearance, then they’ll tear around the sanctuary until Hestia comes out to put a stop to it.”

Amelie blinked a couple of times in shock and walked over to the counter where Copa was sitting. “I’ve never seen an ocelot this far North.”

“That doesn’t surprise me; they’re not very common in this part of the world.” Regina hummed, walking forward and patting Copa on the top of the head a couple of times. “But Hestia’s mother was originally from South America and her familiar was an ocelot, so that’s where Hestia got hers from.”
