Adam looked toward Lucas.
“You have a plan?”
Lucas checked his remaining ammunition.
“Yes.”
Boone glanced over.
“Is it a good one?”
“No.”
“Those are usually my favorite.”
Lucas looked at the tracker we’d found on the pilot.
Then toward the rushing river at the bottom of the ravine.
“We give Meridian exactly what they want.”
Russ frowned.
“Wynn?”
Lucas’s silver eyes turned cold.
“No.”
“Me.”

Wynn’s expression changed.
The warmth in her emerald eyes vanished.
“No.”
I almost smiled.
She hadn’t even heard the plan.
“You don’t know what I’m going to do.”
“You offered yourself to an army.”
“I offered them a target.”
“Same thing.”
“Not remotely.”
Bullets tore through the trees behind us.
Adam fired toward the ridge.
