She fell several feet before the safety line snapped taut.

He opened the rear door.

“But if you want to save Elise Moreau, it’ll have to wait.”

Wynn climbed inside.

I followed.

The rest of the Brave piled into the vehicles.

Ghost took the wheel.

The convoy accelerated along the river as Meridian’s men poured onto the road behind us.

Wynn sat pressed against my side.

Her fingers still held mine.

I looked down at her mouth.

She noticed.
