“I suspected you would use the old joint account.”
“How?”
“Because you never changed your name.”
Wynn’s face lost its color.
Ghost had known.
Had counted on the love neither of us could bury.
“You manipulated both of us,” I said.
“I gave you a chance to finish what we failed to stop eight years ago.”
“By putting Wynn in danger.”
“She was already in danger.”
“Then you should’ve come to me.”
“And led Meridian directly to the Brave?”
“They found us anyway.”
“Yes.”
Ghost looked around the aircraft.
“Because Kane has been controlling your missions from the beginning.”
Adam’s expression tightened.
“Prove it.”
Ghost removed a small drive from his pocket.
“This contains every mission Kane redirected. Every intelligence failure. Every civilian target Meridian needed the Brave to rescue or eliminate.”
“Why would they send us to rescue their targets?”
“To gather witnesses in one place.”
The meaning hit us all at once.
The Brave had believed they were saving innocent people.
But each rescue also gathered survivors in predictable locations.
Medical flights.
Secure facilities.
Extraction aircraft.
Locations Meridian could infiltrate.
“Samir,” Wynn whispered. “The civilians.”
