BIOMETRIC CONFIRMATION REQUIRED.

Thirty minutes.

One duplicate key.

Two custodians.

And a system powerful enough to control Meridian.

We weren’t going to reach Geneva in time.

If we wanted to save Elise, Camille, and everyone inside that bank, we would have to activate Fate from the air.

Twenty-nine minutes.

That was how long Geneva had.

Our aircraft needed nearly three hours to reach it.

For the first time since Lucas entered that warehouse, the Brave couldn’t arrive in time.

One video window showed Minser aboard his aircraft.

The other showed his operative inside the bank’s sealed containment chamber.

Blood covered one side of the man’s face.

Behind him, the portable biological unit had begun to open.

Only an inch.

Cold vapor spilled across the floor.

The operative continued tearing apart the pressure-control system.

“Complete the biometric confirmation,” Minser said.

Lucas stepped toward the screen.

“And give you control of Meridian?”

“Yes.”

“How does that save Geneva?”

“I order my man to close the unit and restore the pressure seal.”

“You’re lying.”

“Possibly.”

Lucas’s silver eyes turned cold.

“You’re not getting control of Fate.”
