Chapter Twenty-Eight

It was a relief so strong, Zack almost felt weak with it. In walked one of the best close cover operatives Zack knew.

“I believe you know Mr Maklavoi!” Hamilton stated smugly.

Hamilton really thought he had the upper hand and Zack would not dissuade Hamilton just yet. Zin looked at the room coldly, before his gaze met Zack’s. If Zack hadn’t seen him undercover before and knew how fucking good he was, he would have been convinced that Zin had been turned.

His face was a mask of nothing, his eyes dead as he looked around as if bored.

“Zin is with us now, and I’m sure you know he has some particularly interesting skills,” Hamilton said with glee in his voice.

Zin walked up to Ava and pushed the man holding her aside as if he were a fly that was annoying him.

“Leave her!” he said quietly. He took her arm in a firm but gentle grip and faced Hamilton.

“I work alone. I do not do this in front of your minions,” he scoffed. The three men around him bristled, and all started speaking at once.

Hamilton raised his hand, “Shush,” he shouted. “Zin I cannot allow you to be outnumbered. I’m not an idiot. You must allow one of my men to stay.”

“Him!” Zin said and pointed to the one who had touched Ava.

“Fine. You two go and get ready we need to leave when this is done.”

The two disgruntled men left the room with a glare at Zin.

Excellent that just evened up the odds considerably. Normally long odds didn’t bother Zack, but not where Ava was concerned.

“Right, let me explain. Zin is going to torture your pretty future wife. Although, she may not survive to ever become a bride. He will continue to do so until I’m happy with your answers.”

Zack remained silent but gave Hamilton a hateful glare.

“Nothing to say? Very well, we will begin.” Hamilton turned to Zin, but Zack stopped him.

“Actually, I do have a question.”

“What is it?” Hamilton asked in a bored tone as if he was dealing with an errant child.

“How do you want to die? Bullet or knife?” he asked as the man left guarding him moved in closer to Zack. Yeah, a bit closer dickwad.

“What are you talking about?”

“If you could choose; bullet or knife?”

“What a ridiculous question but if you must know a bullet to the…” Hamilton didn’t finish his sentence before the bullet from Zin’s gun pierced his brain. At the same time, Zack was close enough to lift his legs and grab the scumbag who had touched his woman by the neck with his thighs. He tensed and held on even when the man tried to stab him in the leg. He tensed his muscles and twisted until he heard the snap of the man’s neck and he went limp.

Kicking the man away, he was helped down by Zin, who had already untied Frank and Helen.

Ava ran to his arms, and he ran his hands over her as he held her tight. “Are you okay?” he asked, and she nodded.

“Better than you,” she replied.

“Quick. We must go. They won’t have heard the shot, but they will come and check soon.”

“How many?” Zack asked his focus completely on getting them out of there now that he knew Ava was okay.

“Fifteen outside and another twelve inside,” he stated calmly while handing a gun to Zack and another one to Frank.

“I only have a knife, but you should take it,” he told Ava, handing her brutal looking K-Bar knife.
