“Move,” Roz yelled as they raced for the emergency doors.

Pandemonium ensued as people began to panic, pushing and shoving, as they tried to get out.

“Stay close to me,” Roz demanded, her face a mask as she moved them quickly towards the back exit.

“What about Bea?”

“The others will get her out,” she said as she held tight to Emme’s arm.

Emme had a bad feeling about this. Bouncers were shepherding people away towards the exits as smoke filled the room.

A big, burly man, with dark hair and cold blue eyes, grabbed her and thrust her aside. She screamed and lifted her knee to his nuts as Lucy hit him with a strike to the temple. He dropped, and Lucy hauled her over him.

“Keep moving.”

The door to the exit was in sight when Roz paused and tilted her head, as she held her hand to her ear before looking up and piercing her with a stare. “Shit, Pax is down.”

Emme felt her blood go cold. “What about Water Sprite?” she asked using the code name they had given Beatrice.

Emme held her breath as she waited for the answer through the comms Roz and Zenobi were using. She didn’t need the answer though, because the way Roz roared in anger and slammed open the fire exit door she knew.

Beatrice had been taken!
