“Oh, I don’t know, maybe because it sounded like world war three was breaking out!” Drew said, and Aubrey looked at him.
“Exactly,” said Alex.
“What did you say to him?” Jack asked.
“I asked him what was going on and he said Will had been arrested on charges of murder. I asked what evidence they had, and he said he wasn’t at liberty to discuss it,” Alex said as he crossed his arms over his chest and rocked back on his heels.
“They said they were taking him to Cali Central Police Station,” Aubrey added.
“Fine. Let’s talk to our contact at the embassy and find out what they have. Also, find out about Pierre Aubin. Drew, you know Will’s systems. Get in and find out whatever you can that will help. Check the CCTV footage with Blake. Reid, start asking questions from our sources here about Pierre Aubin. Because I’ll be damned if my brother is going to rot in some godforsaken Colombian jail.”
Aubrey was impressed by Jack’s ability to go from having a killer hangover to taking charge, and she could see why Will trusted him to run Eidolon.
“What about me? I am a police detective you know,” she said stating the obvious. She had no intention of being side-lined while her sister, and now Will, were in danger.
“You and I are going to the station, but first we need to find Will a lawyer and fast.”
“Okay.” She bit her lip not wanting to say it for fear of sounding like a heartless bitch over Will’s plight.
“Spit it out,” Jack rasped as he folded his arms and sighed.
“What about Madison? She’s still with Chopper, and I don’t trust him. She might be a thoughtless pain in the ass, but she is my sister, and I’ll do anything to save her.”
“Even sell out my brother?”
Aubrey thought her head was going to explode at his words. “What the fuck did you just accuse me off?” she asked as she stormed closer, so they were nose to nose.
“Well, it seems funny that my brother is obviously being set up and you’re trying to free your sister. It would be the perfect deal for Chopper to get rid of Will and fuck us over at the same time. It could be argued you would do that for your sister.”
“You are the biggest prick I have ever met,” she said and continued to glare.
“So I’ve been told.” He shrugged.
“Will you two pack it the fuck in and come look at this,” shouted Drew who was already working at the laptop.
Aubrey glared a Jack one more time before moving to Drew. “What is it?” she asked as she looked over his shoulder.
What she saw made her heart drop.
Chapter 11
“How is that possible? Will was here when this happened. If you look at the time stamp you can see.” The image on the screen showed a clear picture of Will as he pointed a gun at who she assumed to be Pierre Aubin and fired. The man fell to the ground dead. “Pull up all the CCTV from the hotel,” Aubrey demanded trying not to let her fear for Will show in her voice.
They all waited in silence, the only sound Drew’s fingers as they flew over the keys. “The only footage I can find is of Will leaving the hotel through the back stairs around ten. That must be just after he left you at the bar,” Drew said looking at Liam.
“Yes, that’s right. He got a phone call just before and then left almost immediately afterwards,” replied Liam as he clicked his fingers and paced.
“Find Will’s phone. I want to know who called him,” Jack demanded of Blake, who immediately left to do as he had been asked.
“What else do you have?” Aubrey asked Drew.
“Nothing. Everything else has been wiped,” he stated as he looked up at her from his seat.
“Fuck!” growled Jack.
“That’s not all,” Drew said with a frown. “Will’s watch just went offline. But his last ping wasn’t at Cali Central.”
“Where was it?” asked Aubrey as her stomach knotted tight. This was all wrong, and she had an incredibly bad feeling about it.
