“What do we have on Chopper and his merry band of psycho’s?” Drew asked his tone serious.
“We know he’s in Colombia and we have intel that he’s working with Santiago Rojas. He’s the largest exporter of cocaine from Colombia into the US. He rules this entire region from Cali all the way to the border.”
“How does he export it? Do we know?”
“We think he’s using canoes to get it into the ports unnoticed and onto container ships.”
“Canoes? Are you fucking with me?” Drew asked his brow raised in suspicion.
“No, they canoe through the mangrove trees at night. The border guards that work that shift are paid off, and the drugs are smuggled on board.”
“Fuck a duck and Chopper is working with them?”
“From what I can find out and what K and Zin’s contacts tell us, yes. He’s providing security and transport for the gun side of Rojas operation.”
“And Winslow?” Drew asked his jaw hard at the mention of his father’s long lost sister and leader of the Divine Watchers.
“No word on her yet but she was last seen in Brazil, and we know she has links to Chopper. It wouldn’t surprise me to find her here seeking sanctuary with her ex-lover.”
Drew didn’t answer then, and Will let him have his silence. Finding out your aunt was the single biggest threat to the civilised world had fucked Drew good and proper. Only time and support from Kanan—of all people—had helped to start healing that wound.
Night was falling when they arrived at their hotel and checked in. Liam took the bags while he hacked into the hotel security and put the feed through his laptop. Entering their suite, Will walked straight towards the bedroom door, a hand-held bug detector in his hand as he checked the entire suite for bugs as Liam and Drew checked it for two legged threats.
Happy the site was clean he quickly put the feed from the hallway on an empty loop, so nobody could see if they were coming or going and used the technology he had developed for Zack and Eidolon to put a cone of silence around the entire suite. That way nobody could hear or see what went on inside.
“What time are we meeting the contact?” Liam asked.
“Twenty-one hundred hours in the hotel bar,” he answered.
“And the contact is?” Liam asked.
“Her name is Siren. We haven’t met, but I have assurances that she can be trusted.”
“Assurances from who? You do know the meaning of the word Siren, right?” Liam asked with a grin.
“Fuck off, knob nugget. I got assurances from Roz.”
Liam scoffed, and Drew groaned.
“Oh, great. We’re dead. Roz would send us to our deaths just for shits and giggles,” Liam said with a glare.
“Don’t be a pussy, Liam. Roz is sweet when you get to know her,” Drew defended.
Liam rolled his eyes and stood, moving to the fully stocked bar. “Just because she makes scones now does not mean she has become mother fucking Theresa. The woman is the deadliest assassin not known to man.”
“I know that, but she is loyal, and I trust her and so should you.”
Liam raised a glass of whisky to his mouth and downed it in one shot before answering. “Fine but when we’re filleted and left for dead by this Siren don’t say I didn’t warn you.”
“Whatever, just shut up you two and come and look at this latest satellite image from where we think Aubrey might have headed.”
The two men must have heard the urgency in his voice because they rushed to him and peered over his shoulder.
“Oh fuck!” declared Liam with a groan.
“We’re too late!” said Drew as Will felt his heart sink.
