“Until this minute neither had I, but I’ve come to realise that I don’t just care for you, Princess, I’m in love with you.”
“You are?”
“Yes, I am. And if you want to wait for intimacy, then we will.”
CHAPTER EIGHTEEN
TAAMIRA SAT AT LIAM’ S DESK HAVING TAKEN OVER THE SPACE SOMEWHAT WITH HER PAPERS. SHE’ D just hung up from a call with Callie regarding her charity. Setting up anything like that was always time-consuming and never as simple as people thought. But Callie had a lot of knowledge and was a quick learner.
It had taken her no time at all to talk Taamira into being a board member of her new charity Solis. As the charity would be focusing on a broad spectrum, a neutral name had been a good call by Callie and Taamira very much looked forward to working with her more in the coming months.
The door behind her opened and she turned, a smile already on her lips as Liam approached her with his own smile.
He stopped behind her chair; his hands tucked in his pockets. “How’s it going?” He nodded at the work she had spread out everywhere.
“Good.” She nodded. “I just finished up with Callie, and I am going to be on the board as an advisor.”
Liam’s eyes lit up. “That’s great news. She’ll really benefit from your experience.”
“I hope I can bring something to the table.”
He reached out and twirled a curl of her hair around his finger gently. “You always bring something to the table, treacle.”
Heat bloomed in her belly as desire flooded her from the way he was looking at her. They had still not taken things further than kissing. She knew it was because he didn’t want to push her to do anything she wasn’t ready for, but the fact was, she was so ready to belong to this man in every way possible. It went against her current fight for equal rights, but that was how she felt.
“Thank you for saying that.”
“My pleasure, Princess.”
She saw the desire in his eyes flare as she stood, coming to read this man was more natural and easier with every day. He hid nothing from her, always fought in her corner and valued her in a way she had never been valued before.
His hands moved to her waist, and she loved that he could span her middle with his hands, feeling small and protected.
“Ready to go to dinner?”
They had agreed to go to dinner at Pax and Blake’s home tonight. It had been Pax’s idea, but Liam had thought it a good one and so had she. She was talking with these women daily now.
One or another of them checked in on her daily and she realised what she had been missing out on all her life. They didn’t call to bitch or moan about the other, they called to say hi, or fill her in on something they deemed relevant in some way. They seemed to care about her, and by extension, they had become necessary to her.
She could not lie to herself though, being with Liam in his home away from the world around them was her favoured place to be. In under a week, this place had become home to her. Life had smoothed out and become what she had always wanted it to be.
“Yes. Have I got time to change?”
He looked her over from head to foot, and she fought the desire to squirm under his intensity. “You can, but just to say, you look perfect as you are.”
“Really?” Taamira looked down at the dark blue jeans she was wearing with a cream floaty blouse, flat burgundy ballet pumps on her feet.
“Really.” He pulled her closer as he spoke, bending so his words feathered his breath on her neck.
She shivered and leaned in closer to his hard body. Liam had a way of working her up so that her entire body tingled with a need she couldn’t quite define.
“I want you in my bed tonight.”
Taamira drew in a shaky breath at his words, just the tone he used sent her pulse hammering. His lips skimmed her neck, and she arched against him to give him better access to her body. The growl in his throat had power flowing through her as his lips landed on hers, and he kissed her with a demanding passion she hadn’t known from him before.
It showed a wilder uninhibited side to him she hadn’t yet seen, but she liked it. In fact, she loved it. Her fingers wove through his hair, scraping his scalp with her short nails and eliciting a groan from him before he pulled back, dropping several shorter kisses on her lips as he did.
His eyes were dark and hooded with desire and love for her. She still could not believe he had said those words to her, but it was difficult to doubt them when he showed her every day how much he cared. Taamira had not said them back, wanting to choose a moment they would remember for her to tell him she loved him too.
