EPILOGUE

STANDING AT THE ALTAR IN A BLACK TUXEDO, LIAM LOOKED OUT AT THE FRIENDS AND FAMILY IN THE pews as he waited for the love of his life to finally become his wife. He had never thought he’d be so blessed, but he was.

Alex stood beside him as his best man, Blake, Reid, and Jack as his ushers, the rest of his brothers watching, including the Fortis team and their wives and children. Some with very pregnant partners, the Fortis family was expanding yet again.

He wondered how long it would be before he and Taamira started a family. He wanted a little time alone, but he couldn’t wait for her to have his child. His eyes caught on a very special lady in the pew behind Prince Abdul.

Gail grinned at him as she sat with her new man, a good man who Liam liked very much. He would never be Ambrose, but she was happy. They’d had a good talk after his attack and put the past behind them. He loved having Natai in his life again, and Taamira and Gail had hit it off wonderfully.

His eyes moved to Prince Abdul. The man had taken a blow learning of his wife’s crimes and lies but as the months had gone on, Taamira said she had begun to see the brother she had played hide and seek with emerging from the remains.

Fawzaana had been sent back to Eyan where she had faced charges of treason and attempted murder. She was now serving a life sentence in the jail at Eyan. Her daughters had cut her from their lives, and Taamira and Callie had been instrumental in finding them the support they needed to deal with that.

The music began, and Liam’s eyes moved to the top of the aisle. His smile split his face when he saw Natai walking down the aisle with a pillow in his hands. He smiled at Liam and abandoned the slow walk for a little jog. Liam crouched down and caught him.

“Uncle Liam, I did it, and I never dropped the rings.”

Liam chuckled, along with those closest to them who’d overheard Natai’s words. “Good job, buddy. Can you hand them to Alex for me?”

Natai nodded and Alex took his hand.

Pax and Evelyn were next, looking gorgeous in burgundy dresses in a delicate lace, followed by Callie, Laverne, and Astrid and finally Najwa and Mamina, all looking equally stunning in the same gowns. The cream flowers complimenting the entire wedding ensemble.

His breath caught when he saw his wife-to-be with her father at the top by the church doors. He had wanted to turn around, but couldn’t do it, he needed to see her.

King Saud had given his blessing to Liam before the proposal. The note Digby had around his neck contained the royal decree of approval. Not that it would have stopped Liam, but he had wanted it for Taamira, to help mend the broken fences of the relationship with her family.

The floor-length gown of rich cream was embroidered all over with gold silk thread flowers, the deep vee neck daring but the flesh coloured sleeves and netting giving it a little modesty. She carried dark red flowers native to her beloved Eyan, a tiara of gold, ruby, and diamonds on her regal head.

It was her smile that was the most radiant he had ever seen it. As she stopped beside him, her father handed her over with a slight bow before taking his seat in the front beside his son.

“I am so excited,” she murmured.

“You look beyond beautiful.”

Taamira smiled. “You look very dashing too. I am so lucky to have found you.”

“You didn’t find me, treacle, fate dictated you were mine the day you were born.”

Her face went soft and they turned to the priest who would marry them.

The service was a blur, but he tried to take in every single second of their wedding day. Noting the way she looked as she spoke with their friends, wanting to treasure this day so that when he was old, he could reminisce about the day the cockney married a princess.

“You look happy.”

He turned to catch Gail smiling at him. “I am. Never thought I’d be this happy, but she is my world.”

“I’m happy for you, Liam, and Ambrose would be as well.”

Liam put his arm around Gail. “I know he would. I miss him every day.”

“Me too, but he would want us to live life to the full as he had.”

“Yes, he would, and I finally remembered that with the help of Taamira.”

Gail raised up and kissed his cheek. “Be happy, my friend.”

“You too.”
