Omega shook his head. “Not that the police could find.”
Lyric looked up and raised an eyebrow. “Want me to double-check?”
“Hell yes. I’m going to look into his work history and see if I can find anything on his family.”
He and Lyric worked side by side for a few hours until he found some more dirt on Harlan. “Says on the company website that Harlan is on long-term leave and if anyone needs to contact him, to call his secretary. Wonder what that’s about.”
“Yeah, I have something too. The car that hit Harlan’s wife was stolen from the parking lot of Pharmacorp, but it was never caught on CCTV. They found the car abandoned after the accident but never caught the driver and had no prints to go on.”
“Did they get an alibi for Harlan?”
“Yep, he was with a group of people from work. They were having drinks after they landed a huge contract for supplying opioids to most of the hospitals on the East Coast.”
“We need to talk to his colleagues and see if there’s any chance he could’ve slipped away. Where was the bar?”
“Ten minutes from where his wife was killed.”
Omega looked at his watch and wanted to be with Rose and Jude, but this was important.
“Fancy taking a trip and doing some old-fashioned digging?”
Lyric smirked. “No offense, Omega, but why don’t you go home and see your family and I’ll do some digging?”
“Are you sure?” He didn’t like the idea of letting Lyric do all the leg work while he played happy families.
“Yes, I’m sure. I’ll only spend all weekend in my apartment otherwise eating shit and watching ‘Friends’ re-runs.”
“Fine, but if you need back up, you call me. This is one slippery fucker and I don’t trust him.”
Lyric slapped him on the arm. “Yes, Dad.”
Omega gave him the middle finger. “Listen, come to dinner tomorrow and we can discuss what you find. Rose knows everything and might be able to help us unpick it all based on Decker’s profile.”
“You cooking?”
“Mexican casserole with Spanish rice and refried beans.”
“What time you want me?”
“Say two-ish.”
“I’ll see you tomorrow but if I find anything interesting, I’ll call you.”
“Thanks, Lyric. I appreciate it.”
“No need. You’re doing me a favor and, in any case, Rose is family. Without her and the rest of those annoying, bossy, women, I’d still be wallowing in self-pity.”
Omega laughed. “Yeah, they’re something else.”
Cruz and Dax walked in with Sandstorm and the three men seemed surprised to see Lyric and Omega in the office.
“You two headed out?” Dax leaned against the wall with his arms crossed over his chest.
“Yep, just done some digging on Harlan Goodwin.”
“Find anything interesting?”
“A few things.” Omega proceeded to tell them about what they had learned and his theory.
