“Fuck, you’re beautiful.”
“Oh, the bandage is the clincher I’m sure.”
His fingers lifted her face towards his with infinite care. “Everything you do is beautiful to me.”
Charlie believed him too, she could see it in the stormy swirl of his eyes, felt it as he kissed her, his tongue tangling with hers in a kiss that was drugging. Making her mind forget anything but him.
Noah cupped her breasts, his thumb and finger teasing her nipple until she was gasping for more. Needy for him to make her feel human again. “You want to come, baby?”
“Yes.” Her words rushed out of her, and he smirked, a sexy image that went straight to her pussy.
Noah worked her over, his fingers toying with her nipples, pulling and teasing until she thought she might combust. Then when she thought she couldn’t take anymore, he slid a finger through the folds of her pussy, skimming her clit and entering her as she gripped his arm.
Her husband, the man she’d never stopped loving, fucked her with his hand while telling her how sexy she was, how beautiful, how much he adored her and Charlie came with his name on her lips, knowing that the future, no matter how scary, would be filled with love because of this man.
Epilogue
Charlie bit her bottom lip as she waited for the anaesthetist to come and give her the epidural. “I feel like I’m wimping out doing it this way.”
Noah wrapped his arm tighter around her shoulders, his other hand smoothing over her very round belly. “Are you kidding? How can you say a C-section is cheating? It’s a massive surgery and there’s no cheating in childbirth.”
Charlie stroked his cheek, smooth from the shave he’d insisted on this morning before they’d come to the hospital to have their daughter by C-section.
“I know. I just hadn’t planned her to come out through the sunroof.”
“Sunroof?” Noah laughed, his breath tickling her ear. “None of this has been planned, including little miss here being upside down.”
“Breech, Noah, she’s breech.”
“Whatever. All I’m saying is however it happens, it was meant to be that way. As long as I have you and her in my arms tonight, I’ll be a happy man.”
“Are you scared?” She hated admitting her own fears, but the last eight months had shown her that showing weakness and allowing people to help when you needed them was a good thing.
“Fucking terrified, and excited, and in love, and unworthy. I can’t even describe everything I’m feeling, Charl, but I know whatever I feel I want it with you beside me.”
“I love you, Noah Bishop.”
“I love you, Mrs Bishop.”
The door to the hospital room opened and Savannah Decker and another doctor walked inside. “Good morning, both.” She picked up the chart from the bottom of the bed and scanned it with proficient eyes. “Are you ready to meet your baby?”
“So ready.”
Savannah smiled at them with warmth. “And are you certain you want me to deliver this baby? I can have a wonderful gynae consultant I know up here in minutes.”
“No, we want you.” Savannah had saved her life and there was nobody they trusted more with the delivery of their child.
“Well, I’m honoured. Dr March is going to give you the epidural and then we’ll get started.”
Charlie felt her stomach swim with butterflies, her heart racing like a runaway train as the room filled with surgical staff and two paediatric doctors ready to step in and check their baby once she was born. Noah was gowned up so he could hold her hand and be part of this with her, and she couldn’t imagine doing this with anyone else.
She curled around a pillow and Noah sat in front of her as the doctor gave her the epidural into her spine.
“You got this, Charlie.”
Looking at the ceiling she listened as the doctors began, Noah murmuring beside her as he watched over the sheet they’d erected to stop her from seeing the surgery.
“Almost there, Charlie. I can the baby’s feet.”
