And yet, she came home with me last night. Came to my room and pushed me down on my bed. She sucked my dick like it would give her life, then begged me to take her. Screamed my name as I came inside her.

I did that to her.

Me—Mitch Saunders. One of eight children in a family too poor to go anywhere in life. I had to join the Marines to ease their burden. And while I wouldn't have chosen differently, the choice changed me. Gifted me with these nightmares that felt like death.

In what world did a guy like me get to have a chance with a woman like Vivian?

What made it worse was that she wasn’t my type. Rich, high-maintenance, sexy enough to draw the attention of every man in a five-mile radius. Powerful. With her perfect hair and her perfect tits and her perfect fucking life. Only time I’d seen her dressed in anything but the best was the two nights she’s slept here.

She was sexy wearing my old t-shirts.

She was even sexier wearing nothing at all.

When my mind was finally cleared, I got up and got moving. Switched on the coffee maker and gathered food out of the refrigerator to make myself something to eat. When the coffee pot stopped percolating, I turned away from the omelet I was making on the stove. It was then that I saw her. Vivian was standing in the doorway to the kitchen, wearing nothing but my old t-shirt.

Lord, she was beautiful.

Her light brown hair hung in messy waves around her slim shoulders, one of which was peeking out the collar of her shirt. Her long, long legs were tanned to perfection, and looked amazing even without her stilettos on. There was a gleam in her bright blue eyes as they raked down my chest and legs, and my body responded as if it was her fingers, not her eyes.

She tucked a strand of that highlighted hair behind her ear and smiled an innocent smile. Part of me responded not-so innocently.

I leaned against the stove and took in the beautiful sight. “Mornin’, darlin’.”

“Good morning.” Vivian sauntered over to me like she was walking a runway. She gave me a light kiss on the cheek, then peeked over my shoulder. “You can cook?”

“I can do a lot of things.” I slid my hands around her waist, pulling her into me. “You want some?”

She bit her lip as she looked at me. “I am hungry.”

Grinning, I moved my hands to her hips. Keeping her body flush against me, I walked her backward until her legs bumped against the chair. Her face was close to mine, her eyes focused on my mouth. I suppressed a smile and instead licked my bottom lip. Her mouth opened and she took a sharp breath.

“Sit, darlin’. Let me take care of you.”

Not sure she’d make it on her own, I helped lower her into the chair. The woman in front of me was not the Vivian I was used to. She knew what she wanted and went after it. Had what it took to make the world move for her.

Here, now? She was pliable.

It made me wonder what else she’d do for me.

Returning to the stove, I slid the omelet onto a plate. I placed it in front of Vivian, then put my hand on the back of her neck. With my thumb grazing her throat, I reached across the table in front of her and grabbed the silverware I set out for myself. Brushed my abs against her shoulder. Lingered close with the need to feel her. Then watched those beautiful eyes flutter shut.

“You want coffee?” I asked, my voice low and quiet.

“Huh? What?” Vivian startled out of whatever trance she’d fallen into. Her eyes flew open and flashed to mine. I saw this in her last night and couldn't help but do it again. Loved to see her like this.

“Coffee? You want some?”

“Oh, please. Thank you.” Vivian grabbed the fork and knife when I removed my hand from her neck, and she’d cut in and taken a bite by the time I placed a mug of coffee in front of her. “Oh my God, Mitch. You cooked this?”

“I did,” I told her as I returned to the stove to whip up another.

“This… is the best omelet I’ve ever had. Seriously. What did you put in this?”

“It’s a secret.”

“Oh, that’s not fair. Come on, tell me.”

I looked over my shoulder and smirked at her. “Why do you want to know? You cook?”
