“Rolly,” she gasped, hands grasping my shoulders as my lips sucked at her puckered nipple. I released it, intending to make my way to the other, when she let go of me and grabbed for my trousers. “Please. I need to feel you.”

She slid my pants down my hips, and I shrugged them off as I brought my mouth back to hers.

I couldn’t fight her. Didn’t want to. The only thing I wanted was to disappear inside of her until we were one.

I wanted her. A life with her. A child or two or maybe more. I would give anything to keep her in my life where she belonged, to see her stomach round with our child, to be there to protect her and take care of her and let her do the same for me.

We were one. Always had been, always would be. And as I slid into the warm hold of her body, I knew this was where we belonged.

“Carina,” I whispered to her as she clutched at me. “I’ve got you. I’m right here.”

She cried out her pleasure against my skin, and everything swelled. My cock, my pride, my heart. Hearing her whisper my name into the darkness, feeling her clutch at me as we rocked together like the sea, it was the happiness I’d sought every day of my life.

I loved her.

I’d always loved her.

She was the only one for me.

When she’d shivered against me, squeezing my dick inside of her while her arms tightened around my neck, I let go, coming so hard I could feel a piece of me being buried in her. Our kisses deepened as the rocking of our bodies slowed.

When I finally pulled free from her body, I curled myself around her back and held her like I always did, whispering my assurances that I would always be there for her. I’d always protect her from the storm.

Her breathing slowed, and mine followed. But just before I drifted off to sleep, my body jerked, mind tumbling through the events of the night.

I tried telling myself everything was okay. That she was here, she was safe, and I’d never let her go. But in the darkness of the night, when everything felt more right than it could ever be, a niggling at the back of my head told me something was very, very wrong.

Rolly was gone when I woke up the next morning, the sun shining brightly through the windows of my apartment. It wasn’t unusual, not since he’d been given the okay by D’Angelo and his family to follow his dreams. I missed him. The heat of his body curled around mine, the taste of his mouth as he kissed me until I forgot to breathe. Though I wished he were still here, I knew he’d come home to me, and we’d make up for lost time.

After dragging myself out of the warmth of our bed, I found a note from him on the kitchen counter.

Have something I need to do. Will catch up later.

Breakfast in the fridge.

With a smile on my face, I grabbed the banana blueberry smoothie he made me from the refrigerator and settled in to read the dozens of texts on my phone. Most of them were from my brothers and Rolly’s parents, checking to make sure I was doing okay. But I couldn’t help laughing at the ones from Lev from earlier in the night.

Lev: You didn’t tell me you know Tyrone Martin! WTF Major? You holding out on me?

Lev: Do you have any idea who he is?

Lev: This guy’s a fucking legend in the making, and you’re playing ball with him?

Laughing, I responded to all the other texts first, then finally got back to Lev.

Me: Yeah, so?

He responded almost immediately.

Lev: SO? That’s all you have to say for yourself?

Me: Didn’t realize he meant so much to you.
