Reka

It was early morning when she woke up, feeling strangely rested and … sore between her legs.

It was a good kind of sore, though, the kind that made her blush when she thought about it.

Her belly rumbled.

I guess we skipped dinner.

She turned to find Ash looking at her with those deep brown eyes of his.

Her gaze moved down to the rest of him. Whereas she’d been tightly cocooned under the covers, the sheet on his side was half-way down his body, revealing those strong shoulders and thick pecs.

Yum.

She could look at him forever.

She pulled her gaze up to his eyes, about to propose a quickie, then realized that wasn’t desire shining in his eyes.

It was worry.

Her first thought was for Chloe, and the other women still in Afsan’s clutches.

“Has something happened?” she asked.

He shook his head quickly.

“What’s wrong, then?” And it wasn’t just his eyes. He was tense all over.

“I’m waiting for you to put me in my place.”

In his place …

She didn’t laugh, because he wasn’t laughing, and because there was nothing funny about this.

“I took advantage of you last night. And I’m sorry.”

Uh.

No.

No, you didn’t.

Finally, her tongue started working again. “You didn’t take advantage of me.” She let out a short laugh, remembering what they’d been doing just before she fell asleep. “If anything, I took advantage of you.”

She raised herself on her shoulder, letting the sheet fall to her waist as well. “I’d also like to do it again,” she said in what she hoped was a seductive tone, trying hard not to think of her morning breath or the nest on her head.

“What?” He sounded surprised, and she realized he’d been awake for a while, and must have been having this strange conversation with himself, rather than with her.

“You made me feel good. You made me feel right again, Ash,” she said gently. Her hand went to his chest.

He pulled back gently. “There’s a lot you don’t know about me, Reka, that you need to know before we do that again,” he said. “And I need to feed you breakfast. You’ve skipped too many meals.”
